Smoking as an early risk factor for problematic parenting practices [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Parenting among those who use non-illicit and more common drugs such as cigarettes remains an understudied area for investigation. Secondary data analyses were performed in 2015 on a prospective study with parent and twin data available on n=3,009 ...

The Caenorhabditis elegans DPF‐3 and human DPP4 have tripeptidyl peptidase activity

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The dipeptidyl peptidase IV (DPPIV) family comprises serine proteases classically defined by their ability to remove dipeptides from the N‐termini of substrates, a feature that gave the family its name. Here, we report the discovery of a previously unrecognized tripeptidyl peptidase activity in DPPIV family members from two different species.

Digital twin data: methods and key technologies [version 1; peer review: 1 approved, 3 approved with reservations]

open access: yesDigital Twin, 2021
As a promising technology to converge the traditional industry with the digital economy, digital twin (DT) is being investigated by researchers and practitioners across many different fields. The importance of data to DT cannot be overstated.

Interplay between circadian and other transcription factors—Implications for cycling transcriptome reprogramming

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This perspective highlights emerging insights into how the circadian transcription factor CLOCK:BMAL1 regulates chromatin architecture, cooperates with other transcription factors, and coordinates enhancer dynamics. We propose an updated framework for how circadian transcription factors operate within dynamic and multifactorial chromatin landscapes ...

Digital twin

open access: yesAdjunct Proceedings of the 2020 ACM International Joint Conference on Pervasive and Ubiquitous Computing and Proceedings of the 2020 ACM International Symposium on Wearable Computers, 2020
Remote Health Monitoring (RHM) has the potential to increase operational safety in extreme environments. Negative stress exposure influences mission success or the short- and long-term health conditions of deployed personnel. To quantify negative stress, we introduce a washable smart textile with integrated sensors.

Cross‐Species Prediction of Transcription Factor Binding by Adversarial Training of a Novel Nucleotide‐Level Deep Neural Network

open access: yesAdvanced Science
Cross‐species prediction of TF binding remains a major challenge due to the rapid evolutionary turnover of individual TF binding sites, resulting in cross‐species predictive performance being consistently worse than within‐species performance.

Most of the genetic covariation between major depressive and alcohol use disorders is explained by trait measures of negative emotionality and behavioral control [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Background Mental health disorders commonly co-occur, even between conceptually distinct syndromes, such as internalizing and externalizing disorders.
