The polymorphism of diglycerides

AbstractThe polymorphism of 1,3‐dipalmitin, 1,2‐dipalmitoyl‐sn‐glycerol, 1.2‐dipalmitoyl‐rac‐glycerol has been examined by X‐ray diffraction, IR spectroscopy and Raman spectroscopy and differential scanning calorimetry. The respective spectra and thermographs are presented for these polymorphs.

Determination of Ceramides and Diglycerides by the Diglyceride Kinase Assay

This review will discuss the utilization of the diglyceride (DG) kinase assay as an analytical method that allows the simultaneous quantitation of DG and ceramide from cell and tissue samples. This enzymatic approach is sensitive, quantitative, and linear over a broad range (20 pmol to 20-25 nmol) for both classes of lipids.

Acyl migration in diglycerides

The equilibrium between 1,2-dipalmitin and 1,3-dipalmitin as a result of acyl migration has been studied using thin-layer chromatography and densitometry. When isomerisation is catalysed by potassium hydroxide, the composition of the equilibrium mixture varies with the temperature of the isomerisation.

AbstractBy silicic acid column separation small quantities of glycolipid‐rich fractions have been isolated from commercial Swedish rapeseed “lecithin.” Major components in these fractions are monogalactosyl diglyceride and digalactosyl diglyceride which have been identified by Rf on thin layer chromatography specific color reactions and IR spectrometry.
