Promoting acorn survival using capsaicin seed coatings is strengthened by the removal of invasive shrubs

open access: yesRestoration Ecology, Volume 33, Issue 4, May 2025.
Promoting regeneration of native trees, like Quercus spp., is a priority for land managers given the ecological and economic importance of oak woodlands. Although direct seeding may promote recruitment of Quercus spp., the effectiveness of direct seeding may be greatly reduced in environments where the activity of granivorous rodents is high ...

Effects of urea fertilizer and nettle extract on the biochemical and morphological characteristics of ornamental peppers (Capsicum frutescens L.) under deficit irrigation conditions

open access: yesIrrigation and Drainage, Volume 74, Issue 2, Page 600-614, April 2025.
Abstract The aim of this study was to determine the effects of nettle extract, urea fertilizer and deficit irrigation on the biochemical and morphological characteristics of ornamental peppers. The study consisted of two irrigation (I) treatments (100% irrigation (I100) and 50% irrigation (I50)) and four fertilizer treatment groups (urea fertilizer: U;

Use of Sorbitan to Extract Capsaicinoids and Bioactive Compounds: Condition Optimization Study

open access: yesAppliedChem
Capsaicinoids obtained from lyophilized serrano chili by sorbitan monooleate solutions were investigated. Sorbitan monooleate was as effective as methanol in extracting capsaicin and dihydrocapsaicin (DHC).

Simultaneous determination of capsaichin, dihydrocapsaicin and nordihydrocapsaicin in capsicum fruit by gas chromatography.

open access: yesChemical and Pharmaceutical Bulletin, 1980
A new simple gas chromatographic method for the simultaneous determination of capsaicin, dihydrocapsaicin and nordihydrocapsaicin in capsicum fruit was developed. The three components extracted from capsicum fruit could be completely separated on a 3% Apiezon grease L column.

Determination of Capsaicin and Dihydrocapsaicin in Some Chilli Varieties using Accelerated Solvent Extraction Associated with Solid-Phase Extraction Methods and RP-HPLC-Fluorescence

open access: yesE-Journal of Chemistry, 2012
Reversed phase-HPLC with fluorescence detection of two major capsaicinoids was described. Isocratic elution using a ratio of methanol and deionized water (66:34, v/v) as mobile phase was used at a flow rate of 0.9 mL/min with well achieved separation ...
