ENZYMATIC DECARBOXYLATION OF 2,6- AND 2,3-DIHYDROXYPHENYLALANINE

open access: yesCanadian Journal of Biochemistry and Physiology, 1954
The action of dihydroxyphenylalanine (dopa) decarboxylase of guinea pig kidney and of tyrosine decarboxylase of Streptococcus faecalis R on 2,3- and 2,6-dopa has been studied. Compared with 3,4-dopa, these substrates are decarboxylated by the kidney enzyme at rates decreasing in the order: 2,3-, 3,4-, 2,6-dopa.

Conversion of 3,4-Dihydroxyphenylalanine and Deuterated 3,4-Dihydroxyphenylalanine to Alcoholic Metabolites of Catecholamines in Rat Brain

Journal of Neurochemistry, 1981
Abstract: We have investigated the effects of 3,4‐dihydroxyphenylalanine l‐DOPA) and its deuterated analogue on the concentrations of alcoholic metabolites of catecholamines in rat brain by means of gas chromatography/mass spectrometry with selected‐ion monitoring.

An actinomycete producing L-3,4-dihydroxyphenylalanine from L-tyrosine [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Biosciences, 1979
An actinomycete was isolated during a soil screening programme to obtain L-3,4-dihydroxyphenylalanine producers. A mutant of this organism was isolated by chemical mutagenesis and it accumulated 1 g/litre L-dihydroxyphenylalanine when grown on L-tyrosine.
