Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.

Decades of research on personality identified dissociable psychological temperaments. Cloninger’s temperament and character theory used a psychobiological approach to differentiate three major dimensions of personality: harm avoidance, novelty seeking ...

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.

Diversity and complexity in neural organoids
Neural organoid research aims to expand genetic diversity on one side and increase tissue complexity on the other. Chimeroids integrate multiple donor genomes within single organoids. Self‐organising multi‐identity organoids, exogenous cell seeding, or enforced assembly of region‐specific organoids contribute to tissue complexity.

Comparison of correlation dimension and fractal dimension in estimating level of consciousness
This paper compares the correlation dimension (D2) ,Higuchi fractal dimension (HFD),Katz fractal dimension(KFD)and Sevcik fractal dimension(SFD) approaches in estimating Depth of Anesthesia (DOA) based on of electroencephalogram (EEG). The single-channel

Mechanochemical ammonia synthesis enhanced by silicon nitride as a defect-inducing physical promoter
By enabling ammonia synthesis under near ambient conditions, mechanochemistry provides a paradigm shift, a new decentralized production method that avoids the high temperature (above 400 °C) and high pressure (above 200 bar) requirements of the ...

Embryo‐like structures (stembryos) are an innovative tool, but they are hindered by experimental variability and limited developmental potential. DNA methylation is crucial for mammalian development, but its status in stembryo models is poorly characterized.

Ascidian Ciona larvae initially show strong clockwise tail twisting, which is largely corrected during development. However, a small residual twist remains. This study shows that organized helical myofibrils in tail muscles mechanically stabilize this residual asymmetry, preventing complete restoration of bilateral symmetry and revealing how embryos ...
