Degradation of Polyvinylalcohol in Dimethylsulfoxide
ポリビニルアルコールのジメチルスルフォキサイド溶液を加熱した場合のポリビニルアルコールの分裂崩壊について検討した。分裂は2段階に分けて考えられ, 初期の分裂は10時間程度ですみやかに飽和に達し, その活性化エネルギーは6.6kcal/molであり, かなり弱い結合が原因となっているようである。この結合はポリビニルアルコールの重合条件 (特に重合率) に依存し, 主鎖中にわずかに存在するカルボニル基がその原因の1つとして考えられる。また後期の分裂は活性化エネルギーが15.0kcal/molであり, 切断確率は試料によって差がなく, 時間および液の濃度に対して直線的に増加し, 酸化による主鎖の無秩序分裂が連鎖反応的に起っているものと考えられる。
