Inhibition of ribulose diphosphate carboxylase/oxygenase by xylitol 1,5-diphosphate
Biochemical and Biophysical Research Communications, 1975Summary Xylitol 1,5-diphosphate is a potent inhibitor of RuDP carboxylase/oxygenase activity. At an enzyme concentration of 400 μg/ml (less than 1 μM), RuDP carboxylase is inhibited 50% by 2 μM xylitol 1,5-diphosphate. The molar ratio of effector to enzyme is 2 to 1. The inhibition with respect to RuDP is mixed uncompetitive and noncompetitive.

A short-chain prenyl diphosphate synthase in an Escherichia coli mutant that lacked the gene coding for farnesyl diphosphate synthase, ispA, was separated from other prenyl diphosphate synthases by DEAE-Toyopearl column chromatography. The purified enzyme catalyzed the condensation of isopentenyl diphosphate with dimethylallyl diphosphate to form ...

Geranylgeranyl diphosphate synthase was purified 191-fold from bovine brain by Mono Q column chromatography followed by preparative isoelectric focusing electrophoresis and Superose 12 gel filtration. The synthase had a pI value at 6.0, and it was made free of farnesyl diphosphate synthase, the pI of which was 5.1.

Inhibition of thiamin diphosphate dependent enzymes by 3-deazathiamin diphosphate
Organic & Biomolecular Chemistry, 20043-Deazathiamin diphosphate (deazaTPP) and a second thiamin diphosphate (TPP) analogue having a benzene ring in place of the thiazolium ring have been synthesised. These compounds are both extremely potent inhibitors of pyruvate decarboxylase from Zymomonas mobilis; binding is competitive with TPP and is essentially irreversible even though no covalent ...

Estimation of hexose diphosphate
Archives of Biochemistry and Biophysics, 1954Abstract A new method based on the anthrone reaction is proposed for the quantitative determination of hexose diphosphate in order to eliminate the uncertain fructose equivalent. The method can he used for determination of hexose diphosphate of 5–400 μg. with an experimental error for a duplicate determination of 2.4%.

Polyprenyl Diphosphate Synthases
1997It is noteworthy that in spite of the similarity of the reactions catalyzed by these prenyltransferases, the modes of expression of catalytic function are surprisingly different, varying according to the chain length and stereochemistry of reaction products. These enzymes are summarized and classified into four groups, as shown in Figure 13.

Diphosphate-modified substrates for prenyltransferase were synthesized and examined as substrates for the prenyltransferase reaction. They were dimethylallyl methylenediphosphonate, geranyl methylenediphosphonate, geranyl imidodiphosphate, geranyl phosphosulfate, farnesyl methylenediphosphonate, farnesyl imidodiphosphate, and farnesyl phosphosulfate ...

Publisher Summary This chapter describes the isolation of uridine diphosphate glucose, uridine diphosphate acetylglucosamine, and guanosine diphosphate mannose. The basic principle is that alcoholic extract from toluene-autolyzed yeast is fractionated on anion-exchange columns.

Measurements of uridine diphosphate glucose and uridine diphosphate galactose — an appraisal
European Journal of Pediatrics, 1995The recent disproof of a major deficiency of uridine diphosphate galactose in galactosemia should not lead investigators to assume either that enzymatic methods are unreliable for uridine sugar assays or that a defect in galactosylation in galactosemia has been excluded.

Adenosine 5'-diphosphate binding and the active site of nucleoside diphosphate kinase
Biochemistry, 1994The X-ray structure of nucleoside diphosphate kinase (NDP kinase) from the slime mold Dictyostelium discoideum has been determined to 2.2-A resolution and refined to an R-factor of 0.19 with and without bound ADP-Mg2+. The nucleotide binds near His 122, a residue which becomes phosphorylated during the catalytic cycle.
