Preoperative Assessment of Medication-Related Osteonecrosis of the Jaw Using [18F]fluoride Positron Emission Tomography (PET)/CT and [18F]fluorodeoxyglucose PET/MRI in Correlation with Histomorphometry and Micro-CT—A Prospective Comparative Study

open access: yesDiagnostics
Objectives: The purpose of this study was to investigate the imaging characteristics of medication-related osteonecrosis of the jaw (MRONJ) using [18F]fluoride positron emission tomography/computed tomography (PET/CT) and [18F]fluorodeoxyglucose (FDG ...

Adherence of bisphosphonate and decreased risk of clinical vertebral fracture in osteoporotic patients: A propensity score matching analysis

open access: yesOsteoporosis and Sarcopenia, 2022
Objectives: Bisphosphonate is associated with a decreased risk of vertebral fractures due to osteoporosis. However, there are limited studies on how poor compliance with bisphosphonate affects the risk of vertebral fractures in a nationwide cohort.

Innovative Cyclic Nucleotides – Nucleoside 2′,3′‐Seven‐Membered Cyclic Diphosphonate Derivatives. Theoretical Feasibility, Synthesis, and Properties

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, Volume 31, Issue 36, June 26, 2025.
First report on 7‐membered cyclic nucleotides, 2',3'‐cNTDPs, obtained from all‐natural free ribonucleosides in robust, step‐economic synthesis involving instantaneous and regio‐selective reaction. DFT calculations confirmed the feasibility of 7‐membered cyclic nucleotide formation and deciphered the basis for regioselectivity.

Beyond fluorodeoxyglucose: Molecular imaging of cancer in precision medicine

open access: yesCA: A Cancer Journal for Clinicians, Volume 75, Issue 3, Page 226-242, May/June 2025.
Abstract Cancer molecular imaging is the noninvasive visualization of a process unique to or altered in neoplasia, such as proliferation, glucose metabolism, and receptor expression, which is relevant to patient management. Several molecular imaging modalities are now available, including magnetic resonance, optical, and nuclear imaging.

Effect of adjuvant bisphosphonates on treatment of periodontitis: Systematic review with meta-analyses

open access: yesJournal of Oral Biology and Craniofacial Research, 2021
Background: Previous systematic reviews showed additional benefit of adjuvant bisphosphonates (BP) in the treatment of periodontitis. In contrast, it is unclear the effect of BP in patients with diabetes and smokers, its pooled effect when administered ...

Low dose radiation 18F–fluoride PET/CT in the assessment of Unilateral Condylar Hyperplasia of the mandible: preliminary results of a single centre experience

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Hybrid Imaging, 2018
Background Unilateral condylar hyperplasia (UCH) of the mandible, or Hypercondylia, is a pathological condition that determines an abnormal growth of the affected condyle. Bone SPECT with Tc99m-diphosphonates is a successful tool in the diagnosis of UCH.

Flow loss in superplasticized limestone calcined clay cement

open access: yesJournal of the American Ceramic Society, Volume 108, Issue 5, May 2025.
Abstract This study investigates the mechanisms behind fluidity loss in superplasticized limestone calcined clay cement (LC3), a sustainable alternative to ordinary Portland cement (OPC). Despite its environmental benefits, in presence of superplasticizers, LC3 experiences significant challenges in maintaining workability, an issue of which this paper ...

Prophylactic zoledronic acid therapy to prevent or modify Paget’s disease of bone progression in adults with SQSTM1 mutations: the ZiPP RCT

open access: yesEfficacy and Mechanism Evaluation
Background Paget’s disease of bone is characterised by focal abnormalities of bone turnover resulting in various complications. It often presents at an advanced stage with irreversible bone damage. At this point, the symptomatic benefits of treatment are
