Novel C1'‐branched acyclic nucleoside phosphonates were synthesized. The compounds are inhibitors of Plasmodium falciparum and human 6‐oxopurine phosphoribosyltransferases with Ki values as low as 0.4 µM and 0.7 µM, respectively. A phosphonodiamidate prodrug exhibited IC50 = 4.3 µM against a drug‐sensitive strain of P.

ABSTRACT Objectives Patients receiving antiresorptive medication (AR) for osteoporosis or cancer are at risk of medication‐related osteonecrosis of the jaws (MRONJ), especially after surgical procedures. Prevention of bone mineral changes induced by bed rest: Modification by static compression simulating weight bearing, combined supplementation of oral calcium and phosphate, calcitonin injections, oscillating compression, the oral diophosphonatedisodium etidronate, and lower body negative pressure [PDF]
The phenomenon of calcium loss during bed rest was found to be analogous to the loss of bone material which occurs in the hypogravic environment of space flight. Ways of preventing this occurrence are investigated.

Targeted microbubbles: a novel application for the treatment of kidney stones [PDF]
Kidney stone disease is endemic. Extracorporeal shockwave lithotripsy was the first major technological breakthrough where focused shockwaves were used to fragment stones in the kidney or ureter. The shockwaves induced the formation of cavitation bubbles,
