Journal of the American Medical Association, 1934
The work here reported was done with diphtheria toxoid furnished by Dr. William H. Park, director of laboratories and research, of the department of health of New York. Its purposes were: To test the relative immunizing value of a given diphtheria toxoid, with and without the addition of alum. To find the optimum dosage as to the amount and number of

Alum-Precipitation of Diphtheria Toxoid (Improvement of Diphtheria Alum-Toxoid)
The Journal of Immunology, 1936Summary Precipitation of diphtheria-toxoid by alum depends on the pH under which the precipitate is formed. Purified toxoid requires much less amounts of alum to be precipitated than the original toxoid. One-eighth by volume of 4 per cent solution of alum seems to be sufficient for toxoid purified with calcium-phosphate to precipitate ...

ALUM-PRECIPITATED DIPHTHERIA TOXOID
Journal of the American Medical Association, 1934During the past few years the methods of immunization against diphtheria have been greatly improved. Safe immunizing agents have been produced which contain a large amount of specific antigen, so that it is now possible to bring about a reversal in the Schick reaction from positive to negative in a larger proportion of individuals in a shorter period ...

Ionic interfaces and diphtheria toxoid interactions
Protein Expression and Purification, 2004We present here a systematic study on the purification of the diphtheria toxoid (Dtxd) produced at the Instituto Butantan, by adding only one step on the entire process of its production. Aliquots of 1.0 ml of Dtxd were added to an equal amount of Q-Sepharose previously equilibrated with 500 mM Tris, pH 5.0-9.0 (increments of 0.5 pH units).

REACTIONS FROM DIPHTHERIA TOXOID
Archives of Pediatrics and Adolescent Medicine, 1943Since the introduction of fluid diphtheria toxoid and alum-precipitated toxoid for the immunization against diphtheria, both local and constitutional reactions following their use have been observed. There are many reports in the literature describing the types of reactions following the administration of alum-precipitated toxoid, but few reports have ...

DIPHTHERIA TOXOID (DIPHTHERIA ANATOXIN-RAMON) IN INFANCY
Journal of the American Medical Association, 1931Diphtheria toxoid (diphtheria anatoxin-Ramon) is coming into wide usage in the active immunization against diphtheria. This antigen has given uniformly good results with the production of complete immunity in a high percentage of persons. Ramon and Helie 1 state that diphtheria anatoxin was widely used in the active immunization against diphtheria in ...

Purification and Adsorption of Diphtheria Toxoid
Nature, 1946THE method for purification of diphtheria toxoid, which h s been used at the State Bacteriological Laboratory of Sweden since 1943, consists of two different procedures: the so-called iso-electric precipitation with trichloracetic acid of the crude toxoid and the aluminium precipitation of the partialy purified material. The method, described brj ny in
