Confinement Effect on Dipole-Dipole Interactions in Nanofluids

Science, 2001
Intermolecular dipole-dipole interactions were once thought to average to zero in gases and liquids as a result of rapid molecular motion that leads to sharp nuclear magnetic resonance lines. Recent papers have shown that small residual couplings survive the motional averaging if the magnetization is nonuniform or nonspherical.

Dipoles, dipole-dipole interactions, and spectral effects

2012
Dipoles, dipole moments, and their interactions are very important for explaining many properties of molecules that are considered in this book, including non-covalent interactions and spectra. This tutorial sets out some of the key points about dipoles and their interactions. An electric dipole...

Introduction to an Analysis of Ferromagnets with Dipole-Dipole Interactions

physica status solidi (b), 1974
AbstractThe harmonic spectrum of a ferromagnet with dipole–dipole interactions is investigated. It is shown that the dipole–dipole interaction can be treated as a perturbation only after preparing of the Hamiltonian of the system. This preparation consists in elimination of linear terms of the Hamiltonian and in evaluation of the correct harmonic ...

DIPOLE-DIPOLE INTERACTION IN A SUPERCONDUCTOR

Modern Physics Letters B, 1994
Based on the London theory and the Pippard theory of superconductivity, we have calculated the magnetic induction distribution from a magnetic dipole located in a superconductor. The results have been used to evaluate the interaction energy between two magnetic dipoles located in the superconductor. The relevant applications of these calculations have

Dipole-dipole interactions and the critical resistivity of gadolinium

Physical Review B, 1987
Results are presented for the electrical resistivity of a c-axis single crystal of high-purity gadolinium metal in the immediate vicinity of the Curie temperature. Numerical analysis reveals that the data are not well described by the usual power laws in (T-T/sub c/)/T/sub c/ but tend to exhibit a change in effective slope at T/sub c/ which can be ...

Dipole–Dipole Interactions in Tungstates

The Journal of Chemical Physics, 1968
The vibrational spectra of divalent metal tungstates of the form MWO4, where M = Ba, Sr, Ca, or Zn, have been analyzed in terms of dipole–dipole interactions between adjacent tungstate ions. The van der Waals potential constants determined are of the order of (13 − 110) × 10−60 erg·cm6 and approximate those for alkali halides.

Dynamical Behavior and Dipole–Dipole Interactions of Tetrafluoromethane–Water

Angewandte Chemie, 2006
Water and tetrafluoromethane form a stable complex with a O×××F contact rather than a O-H×××F interaction, according to the rotational spectra of several isotopologues of the complex observed in supersonic expansions. All of these spectra display the features of a symmetric top.

The dipole–dipole interaction in photonic quantum wires

Microelectronics Journal, 2009
Numerical simulations are performed on the absorption coefficient in photonic quantum wires in the presence of the dipole-dipole interaction (DDI). The quantum wire is made from the two photonic crystals A and B where A is embedded in B. The probe and pump laser fields are applied to study the absorption process.
