Dipole-dipole interactions near interfaces

The Journal of Physical Chemistry, 1993
In this paper we investigate changes in the interaction between point dipoles embedded in a liquid near a nonmetallic interface when compared to the bulk liquid. The liquid is represented in the continuum approximation, in terms of a nonlocal dielectric function t(k,w), and we analyze the dependence of the dipoledipole interactionon the distance ...

Effective dipole–dipole interactions in critical nanofluids

Journal of Magnetic Resonance, 2013
It is long known that the effective dipole-dipole coupling is averaged to zero when the spin carrying atoms are involved in a fast random movement in an unconfined fluid. The presented theory shows that if (i) the fluid is confined in long closed nanotubes, (ii) the fluid is in the vicinity of the second order phase transition, and (iii) the mobility ...

Interface Effect on Dipole-Dipole Interaction

MRS Proceedings, 1992
AbstractThe nature of the pair interaction between dipoles embedded in a liquid in the vicinity of a non-metallic interface is investigated in the continuum limit. It is shown that the dipole-dipole interaction can be significantly modified in the presence of a boundary in liquids characterized by a nonlocal dielectric function or in liquids whose ...

Dipole–Dipole Interactions of Rydberg Atoms

2008
Abstract The dipole–dipoledipole–dipole interaction is the longest-range interaction possible between two neutral atoms or molecules, and in atoms, which have no permanent moments, it is usually the transition dipole moments which are important. There are many consequences of the dipole–dipole interaction, ranging from photo-association to energy ...

The secular approximation with dipole-dipole interaction

Journal of Physics B: Atomic and Molecular Physics, 1987
The secular approximation technique for a system of two two-level atoms is generalised to include a direct interatomic dipole coupling. The resulting resonance fluorescence spectrum is found to agree with an earlier exact calculation of the spectrum, but to be in conflict with a recent calculation of the secular approximation type.
