Abstract Background CD47‐targeted agents can interfere with pretransfusion testing due to CD47 expression on red blood cells (RBCs). IMC‐002 is a novel anti‐CD47 human IgG4 monoclonal antibody engineered to minimize RBC binding; however, its interference profile during pretransfusion testing remains poorly characterized.

Abstract Background Human monoclonal (MoAb) anti‐CD38 antibodies, such as daratumumab, are used to treat diseases such as multiple myeloma. Because red blood cells (RBCs) express CD38, these MoAbs interfere with antibody screening and crossmatching in blood banks.

Unexpected neonatal ABO discrepancy revealing ABO*cisAB.05 during routine cord blood testing
Abstract Background An apparent AB blood group in a neonate born to a group O mother can raise diagnostic, transfusion, and parentage‐sensitive concerns. CisAB alleles are rare ABO variants in which a single inherited allele encodes glycosyltransferase activity producing both A and B antigens.

Evaluation of incompatible crossmatch
Background and Objectives: Crossmatching is one of the bases of pretransfusion testing. Resolving problems in crossmatching should be carried out after proper planning and following departmental guidelines, and hence that time is not wasted, or blood ...

ABSTRACT Background Progressive feline leukemia virus (FeLV) infection and anemia of suspected immune‐mediated origin (ASIMO) are associated with similar hematologic abnormalities, including anemia, neutropenia, and lymphocytosis. Cats with ASIMO may test positive for FeLV using point‐of‐care (POC) ELISA tests.

One case many learnings: A case of blood group discrepancy along with multiple alloantibodies
Routinely, Immunohematology Reference Testing Center receives samples with blood group discrepancy, presence of allo/autoantibodies, positive direct antiglobulin test (DAT), etc.

Abstract Background and Objectives Availability of new technologies has accelerated the pace of blood group discovery, with nine of 48 known systems being discovered in the past 5 years alone, and yet uncharacterized antigens remain. This study involved investigations of samples from a female patient presenting with a moderate strength pan‐reactive ...

Haemolysis:Role of the direct antiglobulin test and eluate
Haemolytic anaemia is the result of an abnormal breakdown of red blood cells. The direct antiglobulin test (DAT), also known as the direct Coombs test, can be used to determine the cause of the haemolysis.
