Research on power communication private network based on interleaved digital-analog hybrid modulation

open access: yesDianxin kexue
Power communication network is an important part to ensure the safe, stable, and economical operation of power grid. The optical fiber transmission system is widely used in the power communication network to provide wide bandwidth.

Direct and indirect detection of dissipative dark matter

open access: yes, 2014
We study the constraints from direct detection and solar capture on dark matter scenarios with a subdominant dissipative component. This dissipative dark matter component in general has both a symmetric and asymmetric relic abundance.

By dawn or dusk—how circadian timing rewrites bacterial infection outcomes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The circadian clock shapes immune function, yet its influence on infection outcomes is only beginning to be understood. This review highlights how circadian timing alters host responses to the bacterial pathogens Salmonella enterica, Listeria monocytogenes, and Streptococcus pneumoniae revealing that the effectiveness of immune defense depends not only

Hematopoietic (stem) cells—The elixir of life?

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The aging of HSCs (hematopoietic stem cells) and the blood system leads to the decline of other organs. Rejuvenating aged HSCs improves the function of the blood system, slowing the aging of the heart, kidney, brain, and liver, and the occurrence of age‐related diseases.

Organic Transistor‐Based Biosensors for Viral RNA Detection and Variant Monitoring: From SARS‐CoV‐2 to Effective Management of Future Pandemics

open access: yesAdvanced Sensor Research
The COVID‐19 crisis has defined the need of novel approaches for a straightforward management of pandemic and epidemic conditions. Here, an approach based on electronic sensing of viral RNA is proposed for both virus detection and variant tracking.

Electro-Assisted Optical Method of Chirp Compensation for Bandwidth/Bitrate Variable Transceivers Using the Hammerstein-Wiener System

open access: yesIEEE Access
To meet the increasing demand for higher data rates and energy-efficient optical communication networks, this study investigates the unique characteristics of directly modulated (DM) vertical-cavity surface-emitting laser (VCSEL)-based bandwidth/bitrate ...

Luminous Dark Matter

open access: yes, 2010
We propose a dark matter model in which the signal in direct detection experiments arises from electromagnetic, not nuclear, energy deposition. This can provide a novel explanation for DAMA while avoiding many direct detection constraints.

Phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinase as a target of pathogens—friend or foe?

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This graphical summary illustrates the roles of phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinases (PI4Ks). PI4Ks regulate key cellular processes and can be hijacked by pathogens, such as viruses, bacteria and parasites, to support their intracellular replication. Their dual role as essential host enzymes and pathogen cofactors makes them promising drug targets.

Calculation of Receiver Sensitivities in (Orthogonal) Subcarrier Multiplexing Microwave-Optical Links

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2017
Microwave-based all-analogue (orthogonal) subcarrier multiplexing (SCM) permits a direct processing of baseband data at Gbit/s while achieving low power consumption, low latency, low cost, and tolerance to dispersion.

Overview of Non-Liquid Noble Direct Detection Dark Matter Experiments

open access: yes, 2014
In the last few years many advances have been made in the field of dark matter direct detection. In this article I will review the progress and status of experiments that employ detection techniques that do not use noble liquids.
