Is an Apple an Orange? A Large Language Model Benchmark for Candidate Term Extraction and Subclass Decisions Against Upper Ontologies in Engineering and Materials Science

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Building machine‐readable vocabularies for materials science is slow, expert‐driven work. This study benchmarks 13 large language models on two of its first steps: finding candidate terms in engineering articles and deciding where they belong in a class hierarchy.

Ontology‐Aligned Structuring and Reuse of Multimodal Materials Data and Workflows Toward Automatic Reproduction

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Reproduction of stacking fault energy calculations from literature with a semi‐automated large language model‐assisted extraction procedure: extraction of simulation protocol, atomistic structures, computational parameters, and reported results, ontology alignment, knowledge graph construction and, finally, recomputation forvalidation.

Direct multiple shoots proliferation of black night shade (Solanum nigrum l.) from shoot tip explants induced by thidiazuron

open access: yesIndian Journal of Pharmaceutical and Biological Research, 2015
The present investigation was undertaken in Black Night Shade (Solanum nigrum L.) which is an important medicinal plant. Direct multiple shoots proliferation was achieved from shoot tip. The shoot tips were cultured on MS medium fortified with Thidiazuron (TDZ) (1.0-7.0 mg/L) for multiple shoot induction. Multiple shoots proliferation was best observed

Direct multiple shoot induction and plant regeneration from dormant buds of Codonopsis pilosula (Franch.) Nannf. [PDF]

open access: yesAfrican Journal of Biotechnology, 2011
An efficient and reproducible protocol for in vitro plant multiplication system via direct organogenesis from dormant buds of Codonopsis pilosula Nannf was developed. Multiple shoots were induced at a frequency of 75% after nine weeks on Murashige and Skoog (MS) medium supplemented with BAP (1.0 mg/l), NAA (0.5 mg/l), 3% sucrose and 0.7% agar ...

A Practical Noise2Noise Denoising Pipeline for High‐Throughput Raman Spectroscopy

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A lightweight and reproducible denoising pipeline for high‐throughput Raman spectroscopy is introduced, based on a 1D convolutional autoencoder trained with a Noise2Noise strategy. Using only repeated short‐exposure acquisitions, the method suppresses stochastic noise without reference spectra, enabling reliable spectral reconstruction while preserving

In vitro shoot multiplication of the biodiesel plant Jatropha curcas L. through direct organogenesis

open access: yesBangladesh Journal of Scientific and Industrial Research, 2014
An efficient protocol was established for in vitro shoot multiplication of the biodiesel plant, Jatropha curcas L. (Euphorbiaceae) through direct organogenesis using shoot tip and nodal explants. Best shoot induction was observed on MS basal medium supplemented with 1.5 mg/l BAP + 0.5 mg/l NAA, in which 86.2% of nodal explants responded to produce ...

DigiChrom: A Domain Ontology for Semantic Representation of Trivalent Chromium Platings and Its Large Language Model‐Based Alignment With Multiple Mid‐Level Ontologies

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Digitalizing electroplating requires both domain knowledge and interoperability. This work introduces PlatOn, a domain ontology for trivalent chromium plating and coating characterization, and a hybrid pipeline that aligns it to a mid‐level reference ontology by combining eight similarity metrics with language model reasoning. Expert‐validated mappings

A hybrid multi-stage optimization approach for multi-vehicle motion planning problems with lane changing

open access: yesComplex & Intelligent Systems
The multi-vehicle motion planning for lane change scenario is one of the frontiers and hotspots of intelligent transportation research. It is usually modeled as a complex and constrained optimal control problem, especially when there are obstacles on the

Black Noise, White Ears: Resilience, Rap, and the Killing of Jordan Davis

open access: yesCurrent Musicology, 2018
I speak out of direct and particular anger at an academic conference, and a white woman comes up and says, “Tell me how you feel but don’t say it too harshly or I cannot hear you.” But is it my manner that keeps her from hearing, or the threat of a ...

Uniform Amorphization of Crystalline Silicon Surfaces Enabled by Deep Ultraviolet Femtosecond Laser Pulses

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Deep‐UV (258 nm) femtosecond pulses enable uniform amorphous silicon writing on Si(100)/(111) with a six‐fold larger fluence amorphization window than NIR methods. Optimized fluence and overlap yield 20–45 nm uniform and continuous amorphous layers. Microscopy shows sharp interfaces, and real‐time reflectivity reveals nanosecond melt–resolidification ...
