Serum Myonectin Levels Are Positively Associated With Physical Function and Lower Frailty‐Related Limitation in Maintenance Hemodialysis Patients: A Cross‐Sectional Study

open access: yesTherapeutic Apheresis and Dialysis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Maintenance hemodialysis (MHD) patients frequently suffer from frailty, characterized by reduced physical function and poor prognosis. Myokines, such as myonectin, secreted by muscle, are emerging regulators of systemic health. This study investigated the relationship between serum myonectin, adipokines (adiponectin, omentin), and ...

Mechanism-Guided Data-Driven assessment method for Multi-Scenario Short-Term voltage stability

open access: yesInternational Journal of Electrical Power & Energy Systems
With the increasing integration of renewable energy sources and the expansion of direct current transmission systems, power system modeling has become increasingly complex, and the causes of voltage instability have grown more diverse.

Comparative Evaluation of Hemodiafiltration, Hemoperfusion, and Standard Hemodialysis on Efficacy, Inflammatory Control, Dialysis Adequacy, and Safety in End‐Stage Renal Disease: A Prospective Observational Study

open access: yesTherapeutic Apheresis and Dialysis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Chronic micro‐inflammation in patients with end‐stage renal disease (ESRD) is a significant driver of cardiovascular complications and diminished quality of life. While standard hemodialysis (SHD) effectively manages small‐molecule clearance, its ability to remove medium‐to‐large uremic toxins—the primary catalysts of systemic ...

A Direct and Practical Approach to Assessing the Impact of Emulsion Composition on Vitamin A Stability

open access: yesJournal of the American Oil Chemists' Society
ABSTRACTVitamin A is an essential micronutrient involved in vision, immunity, and growth. Despite its widespread use in food, cosmetic, and pharmaceutical products, vitamin A is highly prone to oxidation due to its conjugated double bonds, leading to reduced biological activity and efficacy.

Impact of HVDC dynamic modelling on power system small signal stability assessment

open access: yes, 2020
This paper presents a new measure that can be used to identify the locations where high levels of HVDC modelling can be simplified while maintaining the accuracy of the small-signal stability results.

Forecasting the Dialysis Burden in Japan: Validation‐Based Projections of Prevalence and Incidence Through 2050

open access: yesTherapeutic Apheresis and Dialysis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Japan has one of the highest dialysis prevalence rates worldwide and a shrinking, aging population. Whether dialysis burden has entered a sustained post‐peak phase or whether recent declines partly reflect pandemic‐related disruptions remains uncertain.

Color Stability Assessment of Single- and Multi-Shade Composites Following Immersion in Staining Food Substances

open access: yesDental journal
Composite resins are the material of choice for direct restorations, and their success depends mainly on their color stability, since discoloration causes color mismatch, and consequent patient dissatisfaction.

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.

Quantitative Assessment of Flame Stability Through Image Processing and Spectral Analysis [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
This paper experimentally investigates two generalized methods, i.e., a simple universal index and oscillation frequency, for the quantitative assessment of flame stability at fossil-fuel-fired furnaces.
