Direct Tension Pullout Bond Test: Experimental Results
Journal of Structural Engineering, 2010Results from 50 bond tests conducted using the so-called direct tension pullout specimen type are presented. Anchorages of steel bars with machined deformations were tested so as to enable a targeted study of the effect of rib height and related rib area on bond behavior; tests were conducted with or without the combined presence of external ...

Direct Tension Test of Concrete
The measured tensile strength of concrete is dependent on the test method used. Compared with indirect methods, the direct tension test method gives results closer to the true tensile strength under pure tension condition.

A New Direct Tension Machine and its Application
In order to improve the efficiency of the direct testing machine for rock tension experiments, a new elastic foundation of lower clamper is used to replace the original rigid one.

Bolt Tension Control with a Direct Tension Indicator
Engineering Journal, 1973Achieving the minimum required bolt tension in a high strength bolted friction-type joint is a primary factor, since the slip resistance of the joint is dependent on the bolt tension. Current specifications require that high strength structural bolts be tightened to at least 70 percent of the minimum required tensile strength.

Effects of tension direction on strength of tendon repair
The Journal of Hand Surgery, 2001We investigated changes of tensile strength in tendon repair according to tension direction. Thirty-six fresh-frozen digital flexor tendons were divided into 4 groups with 9 tendons each. The tendons were repaired by the modified Kessler method. Sutured tendons were pulled against pulleys at angles of 0 degrees, 30 degrees, 60 degrees, and 90 degrees ...

Practice Periodical on Structural Design and Construction, 2002
Direct tension indicators have been in use for several years and a brief refresher on their application would be useful to those who may be unfamiliar with them. This is the start of our seventh year and I truly believe that our readers need to become more enthusiastic about writing short articles relating “real world” experiences to their colleagues ...

Dynamic properties of concrete in direct tension
Cement and Concrete Research, 2006Abstract An experimental study on the strain-rate dependent behavior of concrete in tension was carried out by means of a servo-hydraulic testing machine. The specimens were made in dumbbell shape and the tested strain rate ranged from 10 − 5 /s to 10 − 0.3 /s.

Unloading of intercellular tension induces the directional translocation of PKCα
Journal of Cellular Physiology, 2018Abstract The migration of endothelial cells (ECs) is closely associated with a Ca 2+ ‐dependent protein, protein kinase Cα (PKCα). The disruption of intercellular adhesion by single‐cell wounding has been shown to induce the directional translocation of PKCα. We hypothesized

Tax‐and‐Transfer Tensions: Designing Direct Tax Structures [PDF]
Abstract Direct tax structures are regularly revised and debates over changes are heated. Taxes affect the behaviour of individuals and families in ways which are hard to predict, but which impose constraints on governments trying to achieve their objectives.

Tension and stress in the rat and rabbit stomach are location‐ and direction‐dependent
Neurogastroenterology & Motility, 2005Abstract Distension studies in the stomach are very common. It is assumed in pressure–volume (barostat) studies of tone and tension in the gastric fundus that the fundus is a sphere, i.e. that the tension in all directions is identical. However, the complex geometry of the stomach indicates a more complex mechanical behaviour.
