HySE: A Force‐Directed Layout Algorithm for Directed and Mixed Graphs

open access: yesComputer Graphics Forum, EarlyView.
We present HySE, a novel graph layout algorithm for mixed graphs combining directed and undirected components. Using a holistic spring embedder approach, HySE unifies hierarchical and force‐directed aesthetics, supports non‐uniform node sizes, and performs comparably to state‐of‐the‐art algorithms.

The cerebral palsy directed acyclic graph: A structural causal model of aetiology

open access: yesDevelopmental Medicine &Child Neurology, EarlyView.
The first international cerebral palsy directed acyclic graph (CP‐DAG) maps over 100 nodes and 370 links across biological, clinical, and social domains, offering a unified causal framework to guide research and identify knowledge gaps. Abstract Aim To describe the development of the initial version of the cerebral palsy (CP) directed acyclic graph ...

Maternal depression as a mediator of preterm birth and child development

open access: yesDevelopmental Medicine &Child Neurology, EarlyView.
Abstract Aim To assess the causal pathway between preterm birth and infant neurodevelopmental delay, with maternal depression as the mediator using a counterfactual mediation framework. Method A prospective cohort of 1253 mother–infant pairs were enrolled and followed up until 6 months in Nepal.

Maternal glycaemia and child educational attainment at age 5 in the Born in Bradford cohort

open access: yesDiabetic Medicine, EarlyView.
Abstract Aims There is emerging evidence that maternal hyperglycaemia may be associated with adverse offspring neuro‐behavioural outcomes, which are foundational to educational success. We hypothesised that higher levels of maternal glucose would be associated with poorer educational attainment in early childhood.

Glycaemic penalty index as an independent predictor of healthcare‐associated infection in surgical inpatients: A nested cohort study from the STOIC‐D surgery trial

open access: yesDiabetic Medicine, EarlyView.
Higher glycaemic burden, measured by the Glycaemic Penalty Index (GPI), was independently associated with increased risk of healthcare‐associated infection in surgical inpatients. GPI provides a single, clinically interpretable summary of both hyperglycaemia and hypoglycaemia. Abstract Aims To evaluate the utility of the Glycemic Penalty Index (GPI), a

Cardiorenal Mortality and Safety Outcomes of GLP‐1 Receptor Agonists in Type 2 Diabetes With BMI Below 27 kg/m2: A Target Trial Emulation

open access: yesDiabetes, Obesity and Metabolism, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Aims Cardiorenal evidence for glucagon‐like peptide‐1 receptor agonists (GLP‐1 RAs) derives mainly from trials in overweight or obesity; data in adults with Type 2 diabetes (T2D) and body mass index (BMI) below 27 kg/m2 are limited. Materials and Methods We emulated a target trial in the TriNetX US Collaborative Network (index dates 2020 to ...
