Activity plan: Directional drilling and environmental measurements while drilling [PDF]

open access: yes, 1998
This activity plan describes the testing of directional drilling combined with environmental measurements while drilling at two Hanford Site locations. A cold test is to be conducted at the 105A Mock Tank Leak Facility in the 200 East Area. A hot test is

Vorticity‐Driven µ‐Platelet Rotation and Selective Packing for Vertical Thermal–Electrical Interconnects

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
We introduce a capillary‐filtering‐based particle‐filling (CFPF) process that simultaneously forms vertical thermal pathways and electrical vias within µ‐pores. In situ microfluidic analysis reveals that capillary‐driven velocity gradients generate vorticity that governs µ‐platelet rotation and vertical alignment.

Spatially Decoupling Heating and Evaporation for Convection‐Enhanced 3D Solar Evaporation With Continuous Salt Harvesting

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
An architecture‐enabled bottom‐heated 3D solar convective evaporator spatially decouples photothermal heating from evaporation, triggering natural convection that intensifies sidewall vapour removal and heat transfer. The system achieves significantly enhanced evaporation rates over 2D and conventional 3D designs while confining salt precipitation to ...

Developments with seed drill coulters for direct drilling [PDF]

open access: yesNew Zealand Journal of Crop and Horticultural Science, 1979
When overdrilling into established pasture, the application of paraquat plus dicamba, or glyphosate, sprayed simultaneously in bands on the drilled rows, was both a feasible and an effective way of suppressing competition from resident plant species. Pilot experiments highlighted the need for precise control of nozzle height and suggested preferences ...
