Directional Overcurrent Relaying (67) Concepts
59th Annual Conference for Protective Relay Engineers, 2006., 2006Directional overcurrent relaying (67) refers to relaying that can use the phase relationship of voltage and current to determine direction to a fault. There are a variety of concepts by which this task is done. This paper will review the mainstream methods by which 67 type directional decisions are made by protective relays.

Adaptive Settings of Directional Overcurrent Relay
2020 International Conference on Electrical Engineering (ICEE), 2020Power distribution system condition changes dynamically due to presence of distributed energy resources (DERs). This can cause failure of protection system of meshed system. To cope with changing system condition, settings of numerical directional overcurrent relays should be changed accordingly.

Correlation functions based directional overcurrent relay
2012 25th IEEE Canadian Conference on Electrical and Computer Engineering (CCECE), 2012This paper describes a new directional overcurrent relay for protection of interconnected distribution network and DG unit. When the relay current exceeds its pick-up value, correlation of the voltage and current at the relay point as well as partial autocorrelation of the current are calculated.

Abstract This paper presents the design and construction of overcurrent and directional overcurrent relays with ground fault protection for the protection of three-phase subtransmission and distribution systems, using a 16-bit microprocessor, the Intel 8096BH. The relay obtains the system currents at the rate of 12 samples per cycle and estimates the

Current-Only Directional Overcurrent Relay
IEEE Sensors Journal, 2011Overcurrent relays are widely used for protection of power systems, directional ones for transmission side, and nondirectional ones for distribution side. The fault direction may be forward (between relay and grid), or reverse (between relay and source), the normal power flow being from source to the grid. Known directional overcurrent relays rely on a

A new one-cycle directional overcurrent relay
Electrical Engineering, 1943This paper describes a new one-cycle directional overcurrent relay which is not limited in its application by lack of contact co-ordination. That contact coordination is important is indicated by the many incorrect relay operations which have been traced to the common practice of adding instantaneous attachment to directional overcurrent relays.

ANN based directional overcurrent relay
2001 IEEE/PES Transmission and Distribution Conference and Exposition. Developing New Perspectives (Cat. No.01CH37294), 2002This paper describes the design and development of an ANN based novel directional overcurrent relay. A multi-layer feedforward neural network (FFNN) trained with the error backpropagation algorithm has been developed to realize this relay. The ANN based algorithm is off line tested using different simulation equations for overcurrent and voltage under ...

Designing of Numerical Directional Overcurrent Relay
2018 International Conference on Smart Electric Drives and Power System (ICSEDPS), 2018This paper gives an insight into designing of numerical directional over-current relay for distribution system using real time signals. For fault detection differential sampling method is used. Real time signals are converted in discrete form using an advanced analog to digital conversion device Advantech USB 4711/A.

Optimal coordination of directional overcurrent relay coordination
IEEE Power Engineering Society General Meeting, 2005, 2005Directional overcurrent relays are used to protect interconnected power systems and looped distribution systems. Several techniques and formulations have been proposed to solve the directional overcurrent relay problem. In this paper, the proposed formulations for relay coordination problem are discussed.

Optimization of directional overcurrent relay times by particle swarm optimization
2008 IEEE Swarm Intelligence Symposium, 2008An important problem in electrical engineering is to determine the optimal directional overcurrent relay times. The problem is modeled as a constrained nonlinear optimization problem in which the decision variables are the devices that control the act of isolation of faulty lines from the system without disturbing the healthy lines.
