Effects of Temperature Changes on Emitter Discharge

Journal of Irrigation and Drainage Engineering, 1999
Working on the assumption that temperature affects water viscosity and emitter geometry, the writers have developed a dimensional analysis approach to the potential pressure-discharge relationship to estimate discharge sensitivity to temperature. Its accuracy was validated by experimental data.

Emitter Discharge Sensitivity to Pressure and Temperature

Journal of the Irrigation and Drainage Division, 1981
The discharge sensitivities to pressure and temperature of three types of emitters (helical long-path, labyrinth and vortex-type emitters) were determined in the laboratory. The measured discharge sensitivity to pressure was used to calculate the maximal permissible pressure variation in a field for the various emitters.

The Role of Cathode Temperature in the Glow Discharge

Journal of Applied Physics, 1950
Experiments were conducted to study the role of the temperature of oxide-coated cathodes in the glow discharge of argon, neon, and mixtures of neon and argon, and mercury vapor and argon. It was found that for tubes without mercury present, in the region of cathode temperature between 300°K and 750°K: (1) The sparking potential falls ...

Prediction of Temperature Due to Heated Discharges

Journal of the Power Division, 1978
A phenomenological model has been developed for the prediction of subsurface temperature from a given set of surface isotherms due to heated effluent discharge from a thermal-electric power plant. When surface isotherms are obtained from infrared overflight measurements the model can provide estimates of subsurface isotherms.

Temperature effects in glow-discharge tubes

Proceedings of the Institution of Electrical Engineers, 1969
Glow-discharge reference tubes with various cathode materials, but identical gas filling and pressure, operating in the normal-glow mode, show different temperature coefficients when operated under similar conditions. Measured temperature coefficients are compared with calculated values obtained from a knowledge of the running-voltage/current ...

Transient equations of a two-temperature discharge

Journal of Applied Physics, 1980
Transport equations for mass, momentum, energy, and heat flux based on the thirteen-momentum approximation of the Boltzmann equation are analyzed in the isobaric approximation. The left-hand-side terms are estimated and compared with terms representing the collisional transfer for the transient case of nonequilibrium two-temperature discharges in ...

Spectroscopic temperature measurements in oxygen discharges

Journal of Physics D: Applied Physics, 1991
The rotational temperature of the excited state O2 (b1 Sigma g+, v=0) in an oxygen glow discharge is measured from the intensity distribution of the atmospheric A-band O2 (b1 Sigma g+, v=0) to O2(X3 Sigma g-, v=0) at lambda =760 nm. The kinetic temperature, often called the gas temperature is also deduced using vacuum ultraviolet absorption ...

Rotational temperature measurements in hydrogen discharges

Vacuum, 1996
Abstract An electrodeless capacitive rf discharge operated at 13.56 MHz, which we used previously in diamond deposition experiments, was placed in a specially constructed furnace in order to control the temperature independently of rf power. Methane highly diluted in hydrogen as well as pure hydrogen were used as process gases. The emitted light from

Effect of temperature and humidity on ballistospore discharge

Transactions of the British Mycological Society, 1964
Observations are reported on the effect of temperature on basidiospore discharge in Schizophyllum commune Fr. and Polyporus brumalis (Pers.) Fr. In both, the optimum tends to be below that for vegetative growth. Further, above the optimum, spore discharge is stopped by temperatures which still permit vigorous and sustained vegetative growth ...

Effect of temperature on surface discharge in oil

2012 Annual Report Conference on Electrical Insulation and Dielectric Phenomena, 2012
In this paper surface discharge along the oil-pressboard interface was investigated. Surface discharges were measured both in time domain by means of an oscilloscope and as phase resolve patterns. The effect of temperature from 20 °C to 90 °C on surface discharge inception, extinction and surface flashover voltage were investigated. Trend of number and
