Excited Electron Temperature and Molecular Vibration Temperature During Transition from Filamentary Discharge to Glow Discharge in Surface Discharge in Air

Plasma Science and Technology, 2007
A dielectric barrier surface discharge device was used to investigate the transition from a filamentary discharge to a glow discharge in air at different gas pressures. Discharge images and waveforms of the applied voltage and discharge current were recorded simultaneously, and it was found that the discharge could transit from filamentary to glow with

Excitation temperatures in spark discharges

Spectrochimica Acta, 1957
Abstract The paper describes measurements of spectral line intensities in the vapour clouds emitted from the electrodes in controlled spark discharges carrying a current of rectangular pulse shape. Measurements were made during current flow and in the afterglow for the whole discharge and with spatial resolution.

Spectroscopic temperature measurements in oxygen discharges

Journal of Physics D: Applied Physics, 1991
The rotational temperature of the excited state O2 (b1 Sigma g+, v=0) in an oxygen glow discharge is measured from the intensity distribution of the atmospheric A-band O2 (b1 Sigma g+, v=0) to O2(X3 Sigma g-, v=0) at lambda =760 nm. The kinetic temperature, often called the gas temperature is also deduced using vacuum ultraviolet absorption ...

Electron temperature in glow discharge plasmas

Journal of Physics D: Applied Physics, 1989
The mechanism of electron temperature determination in a positive column of glow discharge plasmas was explained in terms of the balance of charged particle creation against the loss to the wall, in which Friedman's modification of Bohm's sheath criterion was taken into account.

Temperature field in a pulsed discharge

Journal of Engineering Physics, 1971
A theoretical description is given of the temperature field of a spark produced by a high-voltage pulsed discharge. The spark is considered to be an instantaneous volumetric heat source.

Scalable Polyimide‐Organosilicate Hybrid Films for High‐Temperature Capacitive Energy Storage

Advances in Materials, 2023
High‐temperature polymer dielectrics have broad application prospects in next‐generation microelectronics and electrical power systems. However, the capacitive energy densities of dielectric polymers at elevated temperatures are severely limited by ...

Rapid Temperature Reduction of Thermal Discharge

Journal of the Hydraulics Division, 1975
The temperature of a heated effluent stream, discharging from a thermoelectric power station, can be reduced by introducing a tempering water flow in the discharge channel upstream from the receiving body. This laboratory model study investigates the possibility of increasing the rate of temperature reduction by optimizing the mixing process between ...

On ion temperature in cryogenic discharge

Bulletin of the Lebedev Physics Institute, 2016
The problem of the average ion energy in the gas discharge at cryogenic temperatures is analyzed. The dependences of the average ion energy on the reduced electric field strength and gas temperature are calculated by the Monte-Carlo method. A comparison with published data is performed and universal approximating dependences for all noble gases are ...

Discharge Temperatures From Pulverizers

Journal of Fluids Engineering, 1939
Abstract In view of the fact that the temperature of discharge from coal pulverizers was of interest because of the effect that it might have on the amount of air passing through the preheater, and on the amount of uncontrollable air through the furnace, data were taken in a number of plants covering temperature of air entering ...
