Dichotomies for systems with discontinuous coefficients [PDF]
In this work we are concerned with the problem of the existence of an exponential dichotomy for the linear singularly perturbed system εx′ = A(t)x, where the matrix A(t) is piecewise uniformly continuous, that is, A(t) admits points of discontinuity but is uniformly continuous in any interval where it is continuous.

Solvability for Schrodinger equations with discontinuous coefficients
We consider the L-P solvability for divergence and non-divergence form Schrodinger equations with discontinuous coefficients. As an application, we give the global Morrey regularity for divergence and non-divergence form Schrodinger operators with VMO ...

Additive manufacturing provides precise control over the placement of continuous fibres within polymer matrices, enabling customised mechanical performance in composite components. This article explores processing strategies, mechanical testing, and modelling approaches for additive manufactured continuous fibre‐reinforced composites.

Logistic Dirichlet problems with discontinuous coefficients
The author studies existence of positive solutions to semilinear Dirichlet eigenvalue problems for diffusive logistic equations with discontinuous coefficients which model population dynamics in environments with spatial heterogeneity. Precisely, let \(\Omega\subset {\mathbb R}^N,\) \(N\geq3,\) be a bounded and \(C^{1,1}\)-smooth domain and ...

Phase Field Failure Modeling: Brittle‐Ductile Dual‐Phase Microstructures under Compressive Loading
The approach by Amor and the approach by Miehe and Zhang for asymmetric damage behavior in the phase field method for fracture are compared regarding their fitness for microcrack‐based failure modeling. The comparison is performed for the case of a dual‐phase microstructure with a brittle and a ductile constituent.

Adaptive metric-based multigrid for a Poisson problem with discontinuous coefficients*, **
In order to solve the linear partial differential equation Au = f, we combine two methods: Full-Multigrid method and Hessian-based mesh adaptation.

Composite finite elements for elliptic boundary value problems with discontinuous coefficients [PDF]
In this paper, we will introduce composite finite elements for solving elliptic boundary value problems with discontinuous coefficients. The focus is on problems where the geometry of the interfaces between the smooth regions of the coefficients is very ...

Karl Popper and the Mechanisms of Hydrogen Embrittlement
Representation of the beginning of loss of ductility rather than embrittlement. Small concentrations of hydrogen in a diffusible form within iron are well‐established to harm the mechanical integrity of steels. There are theories that attempt to explain the pernicious role of hydrogen.

The stability of Cohen–Grossberg neural networks with time dependent delays
Background. The study is devoted to the analysis of stability in the sense Lyapunov Cohen-Grossberg neural networks with time-dependent delays. To do this, we study the stability of the steady-state solutions of systems of linear differential equations ...
