A boundary estimate for nonlinear equations with discontinuous coefficients

open access: yesDifferential and Integral Equations, 2001
This paper considers the following \(p\)-Laplacian type equation: \(\text{div} \bigl((ADu \cdot Du) ^{(p-2)/2}ADu\bigr) = \text{div} \bigl(| F| ^{p-2} F\bigr)\), where \(A\) is a symmetric \(n\times n\) matrix with measurable coefficients satisfying a uniform ellipticity condition and with ``vanishing mean oscillation'' (VMO), and \(F\) is \(q ...

Error Boundedness of Discontinuous Galerkin Methods with Variable Coefficients [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Scientific Computing, 2019
For practical applications, the long time behaviour of the error of numerical solutions to time-dependent partial differential equations is very important. Here, we investigate this topic in the context of hyperbolic conservation laws and flux reconstruction schemes, focusing on the schemes in the discontinuous Galerkin spectral element framework.

Symbolic Regression and Multi‐Objective Optimization of the Flory–Huggins Interaction Parameter for Hydrogels

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
We develop a data‐driven method to derive the mathematical expressions of the Flory–Huggins interaction parameter χ for the swelling behavior of temperature–responsive hydrogels. Starting from initial assumptions of χ, our workflow combines Bayesian optimization, Flory–Rehner theory, and symbolic regression to generate candidate χ expressions.

Non-classic 3D Goursat Problem for One Hyperbolic Equation with Discontinuous Coefficients

open access: yesVestnik Samarskogo Gosudarstvennogo Tehničeskogo Universiteta. Seriâ: Fiziko-Matematičeskie Nauki, 2010
For a differential equation of hyperbolic type with discontinuous coefficients a 3D Goursat problem with nonclassical boundary conditions is considered, which requires no matching conditions.

Microstructure‐Controlled Crack Propagation and Fracture Resistance in MoSiBTiC Alloy Revealed by Multiscale Extended Finite Element Method Modeling

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A two‐dimensional multiscale finite element analysis framework was established for the first‐generation MoSiBTiC alloy, and the mechanical and fracture‐related parameters of the constituent phases were calibrated through experiments and simulations. The framework provides a basis for analyzing crack propagation behavior in its complex microstructure ...

A gradient estimate for solutions to parabolic equations with discontinuous coefficients

open access: yesElectronic Journal of Differential Equations, 2013
Li-Vogelius and Li-Nirenberg gave a gradient estimate for solutions of strongly elliptic equations and systems of divergence forms with piecewise smooth coefficients, respectively.

Optimization of the Production of Rubber Compounds Using Mathematical Models

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Rubber compounds were mixed in a batch internal mixer, and symbolic regression was used to derive mathematical models linking recipe and process parameters to ram path, torque, and mixing quality (incorporation, dispersion, distribution). Subsequent optimization with evolutionary algorithms identified operating conditions that reduce specific energy ...

Existence and uniqueness for a two-point interface boundary value problem

open access: yesElectronic Journal of Differential Equations, 2013
We obtain sufficient conditions, easily verifiable, for the existence and uniqueness of piecewise smooth solutions of a linear two-point boundary-value problem with general interface conditions.

Analysis and Evaluation of the Progressive Collapse of Cable Dome Structures Induced by Joint Damage

open access: yesBuildings, 2023
The current literature lacks an effective progressive collapse analysis of a cable dome structure induced by joint damage. In this study, a dynamic analysis was performed using actual construction cases, an ANSYS LS-DYNA analysis platform, and a fully ...

Cathodic Cage Plasma Deposition of Nanostructured Cu–Fe–Se Coatings on Poly(methyl Methacrylate)

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Nanostructured Cu–Fe–Se coatings are deposited on PMMA by a modified cathodic cage plasma process, enabling low‐temperature deposition on polymer substrates. A transition from discontinuous to compact morphology is observed with temperature, with optimal properties at 200°C, where improved CuFeSe2‐type bonding, lowest sheet resistance, and favorable ...
