EXISTENCE OF PERIODIC SOLUTIONS FOR QUASILINEAR ORDINARY DIFFERENTIAL EQUATIONS WITH DISCONTINUITIES
The authors provide an existence theorem on the quasilinear differential equation \[ -(|x'(t)|^{p-2} x'(t))' = f(t,x(t)) \] a.e. on \(T=[0,b]\) with \(a \leq p < \infty\), discontinuous right-hand side \(f(t,\cdot)\) and the periodic boundary conditions \(x(0)=x(b), x'(0)=x'(b)\). The theorem is based on solving a related multivalued problem created by

A Workflow to Accelerate Microstructure‐Sensitive Fatigue Life Predictions
This study introduces a workflow to accelerate predictions of microstructure‐sensitive fatigue life. Results from frameworks with varying levels of simplification are benchmarked against published reference results. The analysis reveals a trade‐off between accuracy and model complexity, offering researchers a practical guide for selecting the optimal ...

Non-Classical Relaxation Oscillations in Neurodynamics
A modification of the well-known FitzHugh–Nagumo model from neuroscience is proposed. This model is a singularly perturbed system of ordinary differential equations with a fast variable and a slow one.

High-order implicit palindromic discontinuous Galerkin method for kinetic-relaxation approximation [PDF]
We construct a high order discontinuous Galerkin method for solving general hyperbolic systems of conservation laws. The method is CFL-less, matrix-free, has the complexity of an explicit scheme and can be of arbitrary order in space and time.

Stabilization of L‐PBF Ni50.7Ti49.3 under low‐cycle loading was investigated. Recoverable strain after cycling was dependent on the amount of applied load. Recovery ratio was 53.4% and 35.1% at intermediate and high load, respectively. The maximum total strain reached 10.3% at a high load of 1200 MPa.

Disordered (Fe50Co50)1−xPtx thin films exhibit a pronounced anomalous Nernst effect (ANE) with a strong composition dependence on both rigid and flexible substrates. The transverse thermoelectric response peaks near 22.5 at.% Pt, accompanied by enhanced αxy/σxy scaling, thermal transport, and ANE sensitivity.

Energy-optimal electrical-stimulation pulses shaped by the Least-Action Principle. [PDF]
Electrical stimulation (ES) devices interact with excitable neural tissue toward eliciting action potentials (AP's) by specific current patterns. Low-energy ES prevents tissue damage and loss of specificity.

Higher derivative discontinuous solutions to linear ordinary differential equations: a new route to complexity? [PDF]
We present a new one parameter family of second derivative discontinuous solutions to the simplest scale invariant linear ordinary differential equation. We also point out how the construction could be extended to generate families of higher derivative discontinuous solutions as well.
