Discrete time from quantum physics [PDF]

open access: yesNuclear Physics B, 1994
't Hooft has recently developed a discretisation of (2+1) gravity which has a multiple-valued Hamiltonian and which therefore admits quantum time evolution only in discrete steps. In this paper, we describe several models in the continuum with single-valued equations of motion in classical physics, but with multiple-valued Hamiltonians.

Heavy-Traffic Comparison of a Discrete-Time Generalized Processor Sharing Queue and a Pure Randomly Alternating Service Queue

open access: yesMathematics, 2021
This paper compares two discrete-time single-server queueing models with two queues. In both models, the server is available to a queue with probability 1/2 at each service opportunity.

Discrete-time resilient-distributed secondary control strategy against unbounded attacks in polymorphic microgrid

open access: yesFrontiers in Energy Research, 2022
This study proposes a polymorphic cooperative control system for microgrid consisting of a service layer, a control layer, a data layer, and a power layer to apply a resilient-distributed secondary control strategy to distributed generators (DGs) from ...

Design of a Discrete-time Sliding Mode Controller for Nonlinear Affine Systems based on Disturbance Estimation [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Electrical and Computer Engineering Innovations, 2017
Background and Objectives: Nowadays, because of accuracy, speed, cost, and flexibility of digital control laws, control systems are implemented by computers, microprocessors or DSP chips.

Global stability of discrete-time non-linear systems with descriptor standard and fractional positive linear parts and scalar feedbacks [PDF]

open access: yesArchives of Control Sciences, 2020
The global stability of discrete-time nonlinear systems with descriptor positive linear parts and positive scalar feedbacks is addressed. Sufficient conditions for the global stability of standard and fractional nonlinear systems are established.

Complex Dynamic Behaviors of a Modified Discrete Leslie–Gower Predator–Prey System with Fear Effect on Prey Species

open access: yesAxioms, 2022
A discrete modified Leslie–Gower prey-predator model considering the effect of fear on prey species is proposed and studied in this paper. First, we discuss the existence of equilibria and the local stability of the model.

Discrete Time q-TASEPs [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Mathematics Research Notices, 2013
We introduce two new exactly solvable (stochastic) interacting particle systems which are discrete time versions of q-TASEP. We call these geometric and Bernoulli discrete time q-TASEP. We obtain concise formulas for expectations of a large enough class of observables of the systems to completely characterize their fixed time distributions when started

Formation Coordination Control of Leaderless Multi-AUV System with Double Independent Communication Topology and Nonconvex Control Input Constraints

open access: yesJournal of Marine Science and Engineering, 2023
In this paper, the formation coordination control of discrete-time distributed leaderless multiple autonomous underwater vehicle (AUV) system with double independent position–velocity communication topology and control inputs on a nonconvex set is ...

Dissipative Prethermal Discrete Time Crystal

open access: yesPhysical Review Letters, 2023
An ergodic system subjected to an external periodic drive will be generically heated to infinite temperature. However, if the applied frequency is larger than the typical energy scale of the local Hamiltonian, this heating stops during a prethermal period that extends exponentially with the frequency.
