Building a Framework for Sexual and Reproductive Health Care in the Rheumatology Context: Content and Approaches

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, EarlyView.
People with systemic autoimmune and rheumatic diseases (SARDs) are at higher risk than the general population of experiencing adverse pregnancy and perinatal outcomes such as preeclampsia, intrauterine growth restriction, and maternal and/or fetal death.

The Combined Finite/Discrete Element Method in Transient Dynamics of Reinforced Concrete Structures under Blast Loading

open access: yes, 2004
PhDThe research here presented has employed the newly evolved finite-discrete element method in the development of novel numerical solutions for the analysis of failure and collapse of reinforced concrete structures under hazardous blast loads.

Implementation of a Discrete Element Method for the space-time modeling of loading in the case of a soft shock: qualitative approach [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
The aim of this study is to modelize the space-time loading induced on a target by a deformable impactor, in the case of a ”soft” shock. The originality of this work resides in the use of discrete elements to model the behaviour of the impactor, where ...

Clinical, Histologic, and Serological Predictors of Renal Function Loss in Lupus Nephritis

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, EarlyView.
Objective Kidney survival is the ultimate goal in lupus nephritis (LN) management, but long‐term predictors remain inadequately studied, requiring long‐term follow‐up. This study aimed to identify baseline and early longitudinal predictors of kidney survival in the Accelerating Medicines Partnership LN longitudinal cohort.

Considerations for Discrete Element Modeling of Rock Cutting [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
This study attempts to build a framework within the Discrete Element Method (DEM) to produce a reliable predictive tool in rock cutting applications, such that the cutting forces and fragmentation process are reasonably estimated. The study is limited to

Dispersive properties of high order nedelec/edge element approximation of the time-harmonic Maxwell equations

open access: yes, 2004
The dispersive behaviour of high-order Næ#169;dæ#169;lec element approximation of the time harmonic Maxwell equations at a prescribed temporal frequency ω on tensor-product meshes of size h is analysed.

Engagement Patterns with an AI Health Coach for Systemic Sclerosis Self‐Management: A Mixed Methods Study

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, Accepted Article.
Objective To evaluate utility of an artificial intelligence (AI) health coach for systemic sclerosis (SSc) self‐management and identify patterns associated with participant engagement. Methods We conducted a mixed‐methods study in which an AI health coach, powered by a large language model (LLM), was used to support self‐management for SSc.

Simulation of fast-firing densification by the discrete element method

open access: yesOpen Ceramics
The macroscopic behavior of powder compacts during the sintering process originates at the microscopic level. Despite the marked advance in analytical techniques, the characteristics of microscale densification, including heat transfer phenomena in ...

Adaptive Observer for Coupled Wave PDE and Infinite ODE With Sampled Data and Unknown Input: Application to Brain Hemodynamics Estimation

open access: yesInternational Journal of Adaptive Control and Signal Processing, EarlyView.
This article proposes a convergent adaptive observer for a damped wave PDE and an infinite‐dimensional ODE coupled in cascade using sampled‐in‐space ODE state measurements. The proposed observer estimates the distributed states of the PDE and ODE along with unknown PDE parameters and spatial input.
