Implementing and continuity of lean construction using discrete event simulation [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Structural and Construction Engineering, 2019
The success of lean principles in manufacturing and the benefits arising from its use is one of the main motivations for adopting lean principles in construction .The lean construction strives for the same goals as lean production, namely to eliminate ...

Enabling Digital Continuity in Virtual Manufacturing for Eco‐Efficiency Assessment of Lightweight Structures by Means of a Domain‐Specific Structural Mechanics Language: Requirements, Idea and Proof of Concept

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This article presents a solver‐agnostic domain‐specific language (DSL) for computational structural mechanics that strengthens interoperability in virtual product development. Using a hierarchical data model, the DSL enables seamless exchange between diverse simulation tools and numerical methods.

Accelerated Simulation of Discrete Event Dynamic Systems via a Multi-Fidelity Modeling Framework

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2017
Simulation analysis has been performed for simulation experiments of all possible input combinations as a “what-if” analysis, which causes the simulation to be extremely time-consuming.

Marked event method in discrete event simulation [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the 21st conference on Winter simulation - WSC '89, 1989
In this paper, we develop a new method for sensitivity analysis of discrete event dynamic systems. The method is based on the observation that event lists under nominal system parameters can be shared by simulations with slightly perturbed parameters. Thus the simulation on different system configurations may be more efficient.

Numerical Investigation of a Dual‐Mode Shape Memory Alloy Stent Enabling Secondary Expansion via Focused Ultrasound: A Potential Strategy for Correcting In‐Stent Restenosis

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study demonstrates a novel noninvasive strategy to treat in‐stent restenosis using focused ultrasound. A shape memory alloy stent initially expands at body temperature. If restenosis occurs, targeted ultrasound heating thermally actuates the stent, enabling a secondary expansion to reopen the blocked vessel, offering a potential alternative to ...

A Workflow to Accelerate Microstructure‐Sensitive Fatigue Life Predictions

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study introduces a workflow to accelerate predictions of microstructure‐sensitive fatigue life. Results from frameworks with varying levels of simplification are benchmarked against published reference results. The analysis reveals a trade‐off between accuracy and model complexity, offering researchers a practical guide for selecting the optimal ...
