A dilemma study of the traffic flow system emerged due to the lane-change by follower’s tailgating effect

open access: yesScientific Reports
In this study, an artificial traffic system, which is generated on a computer by utilizing the computational technique, has been developed by establishing brilliant lane-changing criteria for the Cellular Automata (CA) traffic model to figure out ...

Application of Discrete Event Simulation in Industrial Sectors: A Case Study [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Discrete Event Simulation (DES) has become a useful tool in the evaluation of changes that may bring positivity to manufacturing and process organizations for both goods and services provision. The main focus of any business entails the reduction of cost

Trends in Dermatopolymyositis Mortality, 1999–2022: A Nationwide Population‐Based Study, United States

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, EarlyView.
We report the national burden of dermatopolymyositis mortality over the past quarter century using the US national vital statistics data. Age‐standardized mortality rates for dermatopolymyositis decreased at an annual rate of 3.8% each year, which was higher than the annual percent decrease for deaths from all other causes.

salabim: discrete event simulation and animation in Python

open access: yesJournal of Open Source Software, 2018
This contrasts with continuous simulation in which the simulation continuously tracks the system dynamics over time. Instead of being event-based, this is called an activitybased simulation; time is broken up into small time slices and the system state ...

Preferences for post‐traumatic osteoarthritis prevention strategies in individuals with anterior cruciate ligament injury

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, Accepted Article.
Objectives There is growing interest in evaluating new strategies to delay or prevent post‐traumatic osteoarthritis (PTOA) in individuals who have sustained anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury. This study sought to determine characteristics of potential treatments that are acceptable to patients with ACL injury.

Benchmarking Memory Management Capabilities within ROOT-Sim [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
In parallel discrete event simulation techniques, the simulation model is partitioned into objects, concurrently executing events on different CPUs and/or multiple CPUCores. In such a context, run-time supports for logical time synchronization across the

Hopfield Neural Networks for Online Constrained Parameter Estimation With Time‐Varying Dynamics and Disturbances

open access: yesInternational Journal of Adaptive Control and Signal Processing, EarlyView.
This paper proposes two projector‐based Hopfield neural network (HNN) estimators for online, constrained parameter estimation under time‐varying data, additive disturbances, and slowly drifting physical parameters. The first is a constraint‐aware HNN that enforces linear equalities and inequalities (via slack neurons) and continuously tracks the ...

Modeling emergency departments using discrete event simulation techniques [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
This paper discusses the application of Discrete Event Simulation (DES) for modeling the operations of an Emer-gency Department (ED). The model was developed to help the ED managers understand the behavior of the system with regards to the hidden causes ...

Optimization of Stochastic Discrete Event Simulation Models [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Many systems in logistics can be adequately modeled using stochastic discrete event simulation models. Often these models are used to find a good or optimal configuration of the system.
