A Thermodynamic 3D Model for the Simulation of Diffusion‐Controlled Alloying Processes in Heterogeneous Material Structures

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A numerical model resulting from irreversible thermodynamics for describing transport processes is introduced, focusing on thermodynamic activity gradients as the actual driving force for diffusion. Implemented in CUDA C++ and using CalPhaD methods for determining the necessary activity data, the model accurately simulates interdiffusion in aluminum ...

Towards the Formalization of Fractional Calculus in Higher-Order Logic

open access: yes, 2015
Fractional calculus is a generalization of classical theories of integration and differentiation to arbitrary order (i.e., real or complex numbers). In the last two decades, this new mathematical modeling approach has been widely used to analyze a wide ...

Investigation of Laser Ablation and Brush Pre‐Treatments for AlCu Cold Roll Bonding in Oxygen‐Free Conditions

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
It is shown that laser ablation pretreatment under oxygen‐free conditions enables copper–aluminium bonding at significantly lower deformation degrees and improved properties compared to mechanical brushing. Laser ablation further increases interface contact area and induces favourable residual stress states and microstructural compatibility ...

Discrete Laplacian Operator and Its Applications in Signal Processing

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2020
Fractional calculus has increased in popularity in recent years, as the number of its applications in different fields has increased. Compared to the traditional operations in calculus (integration and differentiation) which are uniquely defined, the ...

Dynamic prediction modelling and equilibrium stability of a fractional discrete biophysical neuron model

open access: yesResults in Physics, 2023
Here, we contemplate discrete-time fractional-order neural connectivity using the discrete nabla operator. Taking into account significant advances in the analysis of discrete fractional calculus, as well as the assertion that the complexities of ...

Chebyshev type inequality on nabla discrete fractional calculus [PDF]

open access: yesFractional Differential Calculus, 2016
Summary: In this paper, we establish some Chebyshev type inequalities on discrete fractional calculus with nabla operator (or backward difference operator).

Microstructural Evolution and Vacancy Defect Formation in Mn–Mo–Ni RPV Steel Under Low Cycle Fatigue: Insights From EBSD and PALS

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Low‐cycle fatigue damage in Mn–Mo–Ni reactor pressure vessel steel is examined using a combined electron backscatter diffraction and positron annihilation lifetime spectroscopy approach. The study correlates texture evolution, dislocation substructure development, and vacancy‐type defect formation across uniform, necked, and fracture regions, providing

Analysis of Discrete Mittag - Leffler Functions

open access: yesInternational Journal of Analysis and Applications, 2015
Discrete Mittag - Leffler functions play a major role in the development of the theory of discrete fractional calculus. In the present article, we analyze qualitative properties of discrete Mittag - Leffler functions and establish sufficient conditions ...

Linear fractional discrete-time systems [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Mathematicians have been discussing about the existence (and the meaning) of derivatives and integrals of fractional order since the beginnings of differential calculus.

Characterization of Nitinol Produced by Laser Powder Bed Fusion for Mechanical Metamaterial Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Stabilization of L‐PBF Ni50.7Ti49.3 under low‐cycle loading was investigated. Recoverable strain after cycling was dependent on the amount of applied load. Recovery ratio was 53.4% and 35.1% at intermediate and high load, respectively. The maximum total strain reached 10.3% at a high load of 1200 MPa.
