Evolutionarily divergent DUF4465 domains have a common vitamin B12‐binding function

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
We show that DUF4465 family proteins, widespread across bacteria from gut microbiomes, hydrothermal vents, and soil, share a common vitamin B12‐binding function. These augmented β‐jellyroll proteins bind vitamin B12 via extended loops. Our findings establish sequence‐diverse DUF4465 proteins as a widespread class of B12‐binding proteins, highlighting ...

Fractional order generalized Richards growth model with delay arguments on coupled networks [PDF]

open access: yesComputational Ecology and Software
This study aims to examine the dynamical behavior of Caputo fractional order generalized Richards growth model with delay. In order to transition from continuous time model to a discrete version, piecewise constant arguments are added to the model and ...

Some new soliton solutions of a semi-discrete fractional complex coupled dispersionless system

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2023
In this paper, a semi-discrete fractional derivative complex coupled dispersionless system is proposed. The properties of M-fractional derivative are utilized to convert discrete M-fractional derivative system to a classical discrete differential system.

Nonautonomous ultradiscrete hungry Toda lattice and a generalized box-ball system

open access: yes, 2017
A nonautonomous version of the ultradiscrete hungry Toda lattice with a finite lattice boundary condition is derived by applying reduction and ultradiscretization to a nonautonomous two-dimensional discrete Toda lattice.

Pharmacological inhibition of the PERK pathway modulates hepatocellular carcinoma growth and immune signaling

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Pharmacological inhibition of PERK in a DEN‐induced mouse model of liver cancer does not reduce tumor burden but alters cellular stress signaling. Despite blocking PERK activity, downstream stress responses, including CHOP expression, remain active, suggesting compensatory mechanisms within the unfolded protein response that may influence tumor ...

Small RNA pathways in mammalian oocytes

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Three distinct small RNA pathways operate in mammalian oocytes: RNAi interference (RNAi), the microRNA (miRNA) pathway, and the PIWI‐associated RNA (piRNA) pathway. These pathways use small RNAs to guide sequence‐specific repression and contribute to oocyte biology by targeting genes and mobile elements or appear insignificant since different ...

Oscillators: Phenomenological mappings and analogies: Second part: Structural analogy and chains [PDF]

open access: yesScientific Technical Review, 2015
New analytical and numerical results of dynamics for both linear and nonlinear system with two degrees of freedom are presented. For the mechanical chain system with two degrees of freedom, oscillations are investigated analytically and numerically with ...

Discrete Pseudo-SINR-Balancing Nonlinear Recurrent System

open access: yesDiscrete Dynamics in Nature and Society, 2013
Being inspired by the Hopfield neural networks (Hopfield (1982) and Hopfield and Tank (1985)) and the nonlinear sigmoid power control algorithm for cellular radio systems in Uykan and Koivo (2004), in this paper, we present a novel discrete recurrent ...

Scattering theory of discrete (pseudo) Laplacians on a Weyl chamber

open access: yes, 2004
To a crystallographic root system we associate a system of multivariate orthogonal polynomials diagonalizing an integrable system of discrete pseudo Laplacians on the Weyl chamber. We develop the time-dependent scattering theory for these discrete pseudo
