Discrete-Time Delay Systems

2014
In this chapter, we consider stability, performance analysis, and control of linear (probably, uncertain) discrete-time systems. Some of the presented ideas may also be useful in the nonlinear case. Differently from continuous-time TDSs, the discrete-time ones can be reduced to non-delay systems by state/input/output augmentation.

Discretization of Time-delay Systems

2016
In this chapter, the discretization of time-delay continuous systems will be presented through time-delay and nontime-delay discrete nodes. The explicit and implicit discrete maps will be discussed for numerical predictions of time-delayed continuous systems.

On smoothing in linear discrete systems with time delays†

International Journal of Control, 1971
Abstract An algorithm is presented for optimal linear fixed-point and fixed-lag smoothing in non-stationary linear discrete systems with multiple time delays. Relations derived previously in the problem of filtering are used directly to obtain the fixed-point and fixed-lag smoothing filters.

Generalized Synchronization of Time-Delayed Discrete Systems

Communications in Theoretical Physics, 2009
This paper establishes two theorems for two time-delayed (chaotic) discrete systems to achieve time-delayed generalized synchronization (TDGS). These two theorems uncover the general forms of two TDGS systems via a prescribed transformation. As examples, we convert the Lorenz three-dimensional chaotic map to an equal time-delayed system as the driving ...

Memoryless H∞ Controllers for Discrete-Time Systems with Time Delay

Automatica, 1998
Linear discrete-time systems with time-delay are considered. A generalized Riccati equation is used in characterizing state feedback controllers that render the system asymptotically stable and also make it satisfy an \(H_\infty\) bound.

Stability of continuous and discrete time-delay grey systems

International Journal of Systems Science, 2001
In this paper, we have investigated the stability and decaying rate testing problems of grey systems with time delay. Both continuous and discrete time-delay grey systems are discussed whose state matrices are interval matrices. In terms of the Gersgorin theorem, several new delay-independent criteria have been developed to preserve the system ...

Hierarchical gradient based identification of discrete-time delay systems

52nd IEEE Conference on Decision and Control, 2013
In this paper, we apply a hierarchical identification principle to identify simultaneously the unknown time delay and dynamic parameters of discrete-time delay systems. In our approach, we separate the nonlinear cost function into two simple cost functions and present a gradient iterative algorithm for estimating directly the time delay and the ...

On the controllability and observability of discrete-time linear time-delay systems

International Journal of Systems Science, 2012
This article studies the controllability and observability of discrete-time linear time-delay systems, so that the two properties can play a more fundamental role in system analysis before controller and observer design is engaged. Complete definitions of controllability and observability, which imply the stabilisability and detectability, respectively,
