Safety and Feasibility of Laparoscopic and Endoscopic Cooperative Surgery With Endoscopic Submucosal Dissection for Large Superficial Non‐Ampullary Duodenal Epithelial Tumors

open access: yesAnnals of Gastroenterological Surgery, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background and Aims Endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD) for large superficial non‐ampullary duodenal epithelial tumors (SNADETs) poses substantial technical challenges, primarily because of a heightened risk of adverse events (AEs). Laparoscopic and endoscopic cooperative surgery (D‐LECS) was introduced to address these risks, with recent ...

Impact of Abdominoperineal Resection on Postoperative Male Sexual Function After Minimally Invasive Rectal Cancer Surgery: A Subgroup Analysis From the LANDMARC Study

open access: yesAnnals of Gastroenterological Surgery, EarlyView.
Abdominoperineal resection (APR) after minimally invasive rectal cancer surgery was associated with significantly higher rates of erectile and early ejaculatory dysfunction compared with anal‐sparing surgery. Although ejaculatory function showed partial recovery over time, erectile dysfunction persisted up to 12 months postoperatively.

Comparison of Minimally Invasive Colectomy Between Intra‐ Versus Extra‐Corporeal Anastomosis Technique (COMMIT Study): Mid‐Term Analysis

open access: yesAnnals of Gastroenterological Surgery, EarlyView.
This multicenter retrospective cohort study compared mid‐term oncological outcomes between intracorporeal anastomosis (IA) and extracorporeal anastomosis (EA) in minimally invasive colectomy for colon cancer using propensity score–matched data from 2018 to 2022.

Evaluation of Experienced Manipulation Characteristics in Robotic Surgery Using Log Data From the Hinotori Surgical System

open access: yesAnnals of Gastroenterological Surgery, EarlyView.
This study analyzed log data from the Japanese hinotori surgical robot to characterize manipulation performed by experienced surgeons in robotic surgery. Compared with less‐experienced surgeons, the experienced group demonstrated shorter task durations, reduced travel distances with the right instrument (Arm3), faster and more dynamically modulated ...

A simple and flexible alternative to the Stability and Growth Pact deficit ceilings. Is it at hand? [PDF]

open access: yes
We use a simple theoretical model of a monetary union where myopic discretionary fiscal policies generate excessive debt accumulation in steady state and inefficiently delayed debt adjustment following a shock. We advocate the adoption of a flexible debt

Inverse Engineering of Mg Alloys Using Guided Oversampling and Semi‐Supervised Learning

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Discovery, EarlyView.
End‐to‐end design of engineering materials such as Mg alloys must include the properties, structure, and post‐synthesis processing methods. However, this is challenging when destructive mechanical testing is needed to annotate unseen data, and the processing methods for hypothetical alloys are unknown.
