The area of the gamut, in a uniform chromaticity-scale diagram of the chromaticities of a standard array of object colors, is taken to be a measure of color-discrimination capability of an illuminant. The 1960 CIE u, v chromaticity diagram, and the eight test colors of the interim method for computing a color-rendering index, are used for demonstration.

Discriminant validity of the Crown–Crisp Experiential Index
British Journal of Medical Psychology, 1987The discriminative power of the CCEI subscales was examined. Several approaches were undertaken on the responses from subjects in three neurotically disturbed groups and a normal control group. Analyses indicated that simple cut‐off points could discriminate effectively an ‘adjusted‐neurotic’ dimension; simple cut‐off points were relatively more ...

An Index of Pseudo-Discrimination Loss
Journal of Speech and Hearing Research, 1965An Index of Pseudo-Discrimination Loss (PDL-Index) has been developed for use with the recorded W-22 discrimination tests and is described. This PDL-Index is based on consideration of the kinds of errors made by the patient and provides an objective estimate of the relative contribution of extra-auditory influences to an obtained discrimination loss ...

The development of a colour discrimination index
Lighting Research & Technology, 2017One aspect of colour rendering is to discern the difference between colours and colour discrimination. This is important for applications such as surgical procedures and industrial inspection. Two psychophysical experiments were conducted using computer generated images and real materials, including stone, wood and organs.

CORRELATION OF DIFFICULTY INDEX AND DISCRIMINATING INDEX IN MEDICAL STUDENT’S ASSESSMENT.
PARIPEX INDIAN JOURNAL OF RESEARCH, 2021Multiple choice questions are nowadays used in competitive examination and formative assessment to assess the student's eligibility and certification.Item analysis is the process of collecting, summarizing and using information from students' responses to assess the quality of test items.Goal of the study was to identify the relationship between the ...

The Discriminative Validity of the Whitaker Index of Schizophrenic Thinking
Journal of Personality Assessment, 1978An attempt was made to assess the discriminative validity of the WIST with a sample of psychiatric inpatients. Through the use of a standardized structured interview and a diagnostic system for schizophrenia based on the use of discriminant function analysis with nonpathognomic symptom combinations, a reliable and valid system was used to establish the

Fuzzy Similarity Index For Discrimination Of EEG Signals
2006 International Conference of the IEEE Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society, 2006In this study, a new approach based on the computation of fuzzy similarity index was presented for discrimination of electroencephalogram (EEG) signals. The EEG, a highly complex signal, is one of the most common sources of information used to study brain function and neurological disorders.

Nonparametric estimation and inference for polytomous discrimination index
Statistical Methods in Medical Research, 2017Polytomous discrimination index is a novel and important diagnostic accuracy measure for multi-category classification. After reconstructing its probabilistic definition, we propose a nonparametric approach to the estimation of polytomous discrimination index based on an empirical sample of biomarker values.

Learning Locality Discriminating Indexing for Text Categorization
Fourth International Conference on Fuzzy Systems and Knowledge Discovery (FSKD 2007), 2007This paper introduces a locality discriminating indexing (LDI) algorithm for text categorization. The LDI algorithm offers a manifold way of discriminant analysis. Based on the hypothesis that samples from different classes reside in class-specific manifold structures, the algorithm depicts the manifold structures by a nearest-native graph and a ...

Palmprint recognition via discriminative index learning
2016 23rd International Conference on Pattern Recognition (ICPR), 2016In the past years, deep convolutional neural networks (CNNs) have become extremely popular in the computer vision and pattern recognition community. The computational power of modern processors, efficient stochastic optimization algorithms, and large amounts of training data allowed training complex tasks-specific features directly from the data in an ...
