Accurate SARC-F Score in Patients with Liver Disease
SARC-F is a well-accepted screening tool for sarcopenia. A SARC-F value of 1 point is reported to be more discriminating in identifying sarcopenia than 4 points (recommended cutoff point).

Discriminative Ability of a Parasitoid [PDF]
IT has recently been demonstrated1 that Trichogramma evanescens and certain other parasitoids are able to distinguish between healthy hosts and those already parasitised. Hearing cannot enter; sight and touch have been ruled out; and it appears that the sense used is that of smell.

Cortical activity patterns predict speech discrimination ability [PDF]
Neural activity in the cerebral cortex can explain many aspects of sensory perception. Extensive psychophysical and neurophysiological studies of visual motion and vibrotactile processing show that the firing rate of cortical neurons averaged across 50-500 ms is well correlated with discrimination ability.

Frequency-Discrimination Ability of Presbycusics [PDF]
Forty elderly subjects were tested individually for frequency-discrimination ability, using a relatively simple automated testing procedure. These subjects were selected on the basis of audiological criteria as exhibiting typical presbycusic hearing deficits. A comparison group of 40 young adults, audiologically normal, were administered the same test.
