Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.

The dynamics of the risk perception on a social network and its effect on disease dynamics
The perceived infection risk changes individual behaviors, which further affects the disease dynamics. This perception is influenced by social communication, including surveying their social network neighbors about the fraction of infected neighbors and ...

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.

Modelling the effect of a nutritional shock on tuberculosis in India
Background Environmental or social changes and shocks that reduce access to adequate nutrition have potential consequences for tuberculosis (TB), as undernutrition is a major driver of TB incidence and poor TB treatment outcomes.

The LEDGIN GS-9822 inhibits HIV-2 infection and enhances HIV-2 latency
HIV integration is targeted toward active transcription units through the interaction of HIV integrase with the cellular co-factor LEDGF/p75. LEDGINs, small molecule inhibitors of this interaction, reduce HIV-1 integration and retarget residual ...

Biomolecular condensates formed by fused in sarcoma (FUS) are dissolved by high ATP concentrations yet persist in cells. Using a reconstituted system, we demonstrate that valosin‐containing protein (VCP), an AAA+ ATPase, counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its D2 ATPase activity.

Diversity and complexity in neural organoids
Neural organoid research aims to expand genetic diversity on one side and increase tissue complexity on the other. Chimeroids integrate multiple donor genomes within single organoids. Self‐organising multi‐identity organoids, exogenous cell seeding, or enforced assembly of region‐specific organoids contribute to tissue complexity.

Bayesian spatio-temporal modelling of tobacco-related cancer data in Switzerland [PDF]
Tobacco use is the leading cause of preventable death worldwide. Each year the tobacco epidemic accounts for 6 million deaths and costs hundreds of billions of dollars to the economy.
