Case report: What course to follow when left bundle branch pacing encounters acute myocardial infarction?

open access: yesFrontiers in Cardiovascular Medicine, 2022
Compared with traditional right ventricular apical pacing, His-bundle pacing (HBP) provides more physiologic pacing by activating the normal conduction system. However, HBP has some limitations including higher pacing thresholds.

The effects and reliability of the hydroxychloroquine-azithromycin combination on the cardiac conduction system in patients with coronavirus disease 2019

open access: yesJournal of Surgery and Medicine, 2020
Background and Aim: The COVID-19 virus has influenced the whole world since late 2019 and has affected millions of people The combination of hydroxychloroquine (HQ) and azithromycin (AZ) has entered the protocols worldwide to reduce virus replication and take advantage of its immunomodulatory effects The frequency of QTc prolongation in combinational ...

Cyclic azapeptide CD36 ligand attenuates cardiac injury and reduces long‐chain fatty acid accumulation after myocardial ischemia–reperfusion in mice

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
In a murine model of myocardial ischemia and reperfusion (MI/R), the CD36 azapeptide ligand MPE‐298 reduces cardiac injury and transiently lowers left ventricular long‐chain fatty acids (LCFAs) accumulation 3 h after reperfusion, accompanied by a decrease of oxidative stress and inflammation‐associated genes' expression in the heart and adipose tissue.

Multi-ancestry GWAS of the electrocardiographic PR interval identifies 202 loci underlying cardiac conduction [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
The electrocardiographic PR interval reflects atrioventricular conduction, and is associated with conduction abnormalities, pacemaker implantation, atrial fibrillation (AF), and cardiovascular mortality.

Elevated Connectivity During Language Processing Is Associated With Cognitive Performance in SeLECTS

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Self‐Limited Epilepsy with Centrotemporal Spikes (SeLECTS) is associated with language impairments despite seizures originating in the motor cortex, suggesting aberrant cross‐network interactions. Here we tested whether functional connectivity in SeLECTS during language tasks predicts language performance.

[18F]Fluorodeprenyl‐D2 PET as a Tool to Monitor Disease Activity in GAD65‐Ab Autoimmune Encephalitis

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective To evaluate [18F]fluorodeprenyl‐D2 ([18F]F‐DED) positron‐emission tomography (PET) imaging as a biomarker of disease activity in autoimmune encephalitis (AIE) associated with glutamic acid decarboxylase 65 (GAD65) antibodies. Methods [18F]F‐DED PET was performed in 25 GAD65‐AIE patients and 8 controls using dynamic (0–60 min) and ...

Incidence and prognosis of cardiac conduction system diseases in hypertension: the STEP trial

open access: yesNature Aging
Patients with cardiac conduction system diseases (CSD) may have increased incidence and mortality of cardiovascular events. Here we report a post hoc analysis of the Strategy of Blood Pressure Intervention in the Elderly Hypertensive Patients (STEP) randomized clinical trial (ClinicalTrials.gov number, NCT03015311) concerning the effect of intensive ...

Progressive conduction system disease in an apparently healthy man

open access: yes, 2020
Herein we discuss the progression of conduction system disease in an apparently healthy man. Over the course of 17 years he manifested atrial tachycardia, atrial flutter and progressive conduction system disease.

Onasemnogene Abeparvovec in Patients With SMA: Interim Results of the RESTORE Registry in Japan

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective There are limited real‐world data regarding the safety and effectiveness of onasemnogene abeparvovec (OA; Zolgensma) infusion, a one‐time gene replacement therapy, for Japanese patients with spinal muscular atrophy (SMA). We aimed to improve understanding of the real‐world outcomes for OA in Japan.

Association of atrial tachyarrhythmia, heart block, and right ventricular dysfunction: a case report and review of literature

open access: yesJournal of Medical Case Reports
Background The association of right ventricular dysfunction, atrial tachyarrhythmias, and cardiac conduction system disease is rarely reported in literature. Previous case reports include right ventricular dysfunction associated with sudden cardiac death
