Dynamics of a delayed plant disease model with Beddington-DeAngelis disease transmission.
In the present research, we study a mathematical model for vector-borne plant disease with the plant resistance to disease and vector crowding effect and propose using Beddington-DeAngelis type disease transmission and incubation delay.

Oral Transmission of Chagas Disease [PDF]
Chagas disease is now an active disease in the urban centers of countries of nonendemicity and endemicity because of congenital and blood and/or organ transplantation transmissions and the reactivation of the chronic disease in smaller scale than vectorial transmission, reported as controlled in countries of endemicity.

Prion Diseases as Transmissible Zoonotic Diseases
(Uploaded by Plazi for the Bat Literature Project) Prion diseases, also called transmissible spongiform encephalopathies (TSEs), lead to neurological dysfunction in animals and are fatal. Infectious prion proteins are causative agents of many mammalian TSEs, including scrapie (in sheep), chronic wasting disease (in deer and elk), bovine spongiform ...

Informed consent and the transmission of sexual disease: Dadson Revivified [PDF]
This article examines the impact of the decisions in R v Dica (2004) and R v Konzani (2005) on the extent of the defence of consent. As well as analysing the impact of the decisions on the extent of the defence where a defendant faces criminal liability ...

Maternal transmission of mitochondrial diseases [PDF]
Given the major role of the mitochondrion in cellular homeostasis, dysfunctions of this organelle may lead to several common diseases in humans. Among these, maternal diseases linked to mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) mutations are of special interest due to the unclear pattern of mitochondrial inheritance.

One Health – an Ecological and Evolutionary Framework for tackling Neglected Zoonotic Diseases [PDF]
Understanding the complex population biology and transmission ecology of multihost parasites has been declared as one of the major challenges of biomedical sciences for the 21st century and the Neglected Zoonotic Diseases (NZDs) are perhaps the most ...

Bird Migration Routes and Risk for Pathogen Dispersion into Western Mediterranean Wetlands
Wild birds share with humans the capacity for moving fast over large distances. During migratory movements, birds carry pathogens that can be transmitted between species at breeding, wintering, and stopover places where numerous birds of various species ...
