Efficiency of four Malaysian commercial disinfectants on removing Listeria monocytogenes biofilm [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Listeria monocytogenes(L. monocytogenes) is a gram positive food-borne pathogen that is able to form biofilm on food factory surfaces. Formation of biofilm makes the bacteria much more resistance to environmental stresses such as disinfectant.

Self‐Powered Permeable Electronic Dressing for Exudate Management, Electrostimulation and Drug Delivery in Chronic Wound Healing

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study develops a self‐powered permeable electronic dressing (SPED) that synergistically integrates exudate management, electrical stimulation, and on‐demand drug delivery. The dressing effectively absorbs exudate while demonstrating potent antibacterial activity and accelerated tissue regeneration in diabetic mouse models, thereby promoting ...

EFFECT OF THE GROWTH STIMULATORS TOGETHER WITH THE SEED DISINFECTANTS ON THE PRODUCTIVITY OF THE SPRING BARLEY VARIETY ‘SHCHEDRY’

open access: yesЗерновое хозяйство России, 2018
Nowadays one of the promising measures to increase the productivity of spring barley is to use seed disinfectants together with the growth stimulators, which stimulate plant sprouting, improve their tolerance to unfavourable biotic and abiotic factors ...

In Vitro Activity of Disinfectants against Mold Fungi Isolated from Different Environments of the Children’s Medical Center Hospital, Tehran, Iran

open access: yesJournal of Environmental Health and Sustainable Development, 2021
Introduction: Fungal aerosols cause life-threatening infections in patients hospitalized in critical wards. Antiseptics and disinfectants have broad-spectrum antimicrobial activity against the living tissue and inert surfaces microorganisms; hence, they ...

Effects of Molecular Designs and Double‐Network Morphologies for Bioadhesive Semiconductors

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study establishes molecular‐to‐mesoscale design rules for bioadhesive semiconducting polymers (BASCs). It identifies how side‐chain length, double‐network formation, and film thickness modulate adhesion strength and electronic performance, providing insight into the rational design of intrinsically adhesive semiconductors for stable and efficient ...

Photo‐Controlled Antibacterial Drug Release From DASA‐Coated Silica Particles for Improved Treatment of Wound Infections

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Synthesis and characterization of light‐responsive donor–acceptor Stenhouse adducts (DASA)‐coated chlorhexidine‐loaded silica nanoparticles. Such a controllable drug‐delivery system enables the release of the antimicrobial drug on demand and in consecutive cycles, thereby maintaining the concentration within the therapeutic window.

LL‐37 Driven Phase Transition and Stacking in Oligolamellar Gram‐Negative Bacterial Membrane Models

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This work establishes oligolamellar bacterial membrane models to investigate how LL‐37 disrupts the complex dual‐bilayer architecture of Gram‐negative bacteria. Combining SAXS, cryo‐TEM, electrophoretic mobility measurements, and coarse‐grained simulations, it reveals cardiolipin‐driven phase transitions leading to bicelle‐like structures and membrane ...

Nanodiamond Quantum Sensors for Probing Free Radical Biology

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Free radicals play key roles in cellular signaling and disease but remain difficult to measure in living systems. Nanodiamonds (NDs) with nitrogen‐vacancy (NV) centers enable quantum sensing of local magnetic noise via T₁ relaxometry, providing nondestructive radical detection in living cells.
