Astrocytic Phenotypic Switching in Posterior Piriform Cortex Orchestrates Bone Cancer Pain–Depression Comorbidity via Purinergic–Noradrenergic Signaling

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Bone cancer pain and depression share a common origin: astrocytic A2‐to‐A1 transition in the posterior piriform cortex. This phenotypic shift disrupts the ATP–adenosine–A2AR–norepinephrine axis, simultaneously driving nociceptive and affective dysfunction.

Associations of exposure to disinfection by-products with blood coagulation parameters among women: Results from the Tongji reproductive and environmental (TREE) study

open access: yesEcotoxicology and Environmental Safety
Background: Experimental studies have shown that disinfection byproducts (DBPs) induce coagulotoxicity, but human evidence is scarce. Objective: This study aimed to explore the relationships of DBP exposures with blood coagulation parameters.

Chlorine dioxine DBPs (disinfection by-products) in drinking water

open access: yesJournal of Biological Research, 2013
Since the 1970s it has been well known that, though water for human consumption is generally disinfected before being distributed along the network, the use of chemicals results in the formation of many different Disinfection By-Products (DBPs).

Chemical and microbiological risk-based optimization of disinfection and monitoring: a meta-model approach [PDF]

open access: yes
The proper operation of drinking water distribution networks (DWDN) requires an optimal equilibrium between chemical and microbiological risk. In disinfected DWDNs a trade-off needs to be found in setting the concentration of residual disinfectant at the

Introgressed Variation in TaMYB7‐A1 Drives Graded Dormancy and Climate‐Adaptive Pre‐Harvest Sprouting Resistance in Wheat

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
TaMYB7‐A1 directly activates TaABI5 to enhance ABA signaling and regulate ABA‐GA homeostasis, enforcing seed dormancy. Its superior allele, derived from wild einkorn introgression, harbors a MITE insertion that elevates expression and two amino acid substitutions that enhance transcriptional activity, collectively generating graded PHS resistance for ...

Comparing the efficiencies of different commercial cleaning products in reducing the growth of bacterial flora within the school environment [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
The aims of this extended essay are to identify what types of bacteria are present at school environment and what type of cleaning product is the most effective at decreasing their growth when the surfaces are cleaned manually.

Lilrb4a Suppression Reprograms Microglia to Mitigate APOE4‐Associated Amyloid Plaques and Cerebral Amyloid Angiopathy in Association With a PPAR‐Linked Pro‐Clearance State

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Targeting Lilrb4a in Apolipoprotein E4 (APOE4)‐associated Alzheimer's disease (AD) reprograms microglia toward a beneficial, phagocytic state. Genetic deletion or antisense inhibition of Lilrb4a suppresses p‐SHP2/NF‐κB/STAT1 signaling, restores PPAR‐linked lipid and energy metabolism, and reduces amyloid plaque burden and cerebral amyloid angiopathy ...

Monitoring and optimization of wastewater disinfection processes for ecosystem preservation [PDF]

open access: yes
A year-long monitoring initiative in northern Italy evaluated wastewater disinfection efficiency on E. coli and its impacts on the aquatic environment of the surface recipients, in terms of microbiological quality and ecotoxicity.

Materials‐Guided Gene‐Ionizable Lipid Nanoparticles to Reverse Iron‐Associated Immune Resistance in Renal Cancer

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Iron overload is a common metabolic disturbance in cancer and contributes to poor outcomes in renal cell carcinoma (RCC), yet its effects on the tumour immune microenvironment remain unclear. Here we identify a previously unrecognized immunosuppressive axis in which iron overload downregulates the palmitoyltransferase ZDHHC12 in CD8+ T cells ...

Natural Organic Matter Removal for Disinfection By-Products Control in Climate Change Resilient Drinking Water Treatment [PDF]

open access: yes
Despite extensive experience in disinfected drinking water supply systems, challenges related to disinfection by-products (DBPs) formation still remain, especially considering higher water temperatures and content of natural organic matter (NOM). As part
