High dislocation density of tin induced by electric current

open access: yesAIP Advances, 2015
A dislocation density of as high as 1017 /m2 in a tin strip, as revealed by high resolution transmission electron microscope, was induced by current stressing at 6.5 x 103 A/ cm2. The dislocations exist in terms of dislocation line, dislocation loop, and

Intermittent dislocation density fluctuations in crystal plasticity from a phase-field crystal model

open access: yes, 2014
Plastic deformation mediated by collective dislocation dynamics is investigated in the two-dimensional phase-field crystal model of sheared single crystals.

Line-Profile Analysis Combined with Texture Analysis for Characterizing Dislocation Distribution in Texture Components of Cold-Rolled Copper Sheets

open access: yesHigh Temperature Materials and Processes, 2016
We described a newly developed characterization technique that dislocation density could be individually determined for each texture component of plastically deformed metals by combining the line-profile analysis with the texture analysis by using X-ray ...

Continuum Representation of Systems of Dislocation Lines: A General Method for Deriving Closed-Form Evolution Equations

open access: yes, 2016
Plasticity is governed by the evolution of, in general anisotropic, systems of dislocations. We seek to faithfully represent this evolution in terms of density-like variables which average over the discrete dislocation microstructure.

The dislocation configurational energy density in discrete dislocation plasticity

open access: yesJournal of the Mechanics and Physics of Solids, 2019
Abstract Dislocation configurational energy is the term assigned to describe the elastically-stored energy associated with the interaction of dislocations and their structures. It is the energy which is over and above that from the summation of the dislocation line energies when considered isolated and non-interacting.

Effect of applied magnetic field on wear behaviour of martensitic steel

open access: yesJournal of Materials Research and Technology, 2019
The effect of applied magnetic field on wear resistance of martensitic steel with different dislocation densities has been investigated. The wear resistance of martensitic steels improved under the applied magnetic field, while the improvement reduced as

Bunches of misfit dislocations on the onset of relaxation of Si$_{0.4}$Ge$_{0.6}$/Si(001) epitaxial films revealed by high-resolution x-ray diffraction [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
The experimental x-ray diffraction patterns of a Si$_{0.4}$Ge$_{0.6}$/Si(001) epitaxial film with a low density of misfit dislocations are modeled by the Monte Carlo method.

Crack propagation in low dislocation density quantum dot lasers epitaxially grown on Si

open access: yesAPL Materials, 2022
Low threading dislocation density in epitaxial lasers on Si is required for high performance and robust devices for silicon photonic integrated circuits.

A continuum model for dislocation dynamics in three dimensions using the dislocation density potential functions and its application in understanding the micro-pillar size effect

open access: yes, 2015
In this paper, we present a dislocation-density-based three-dimensional continuum model, where the dislocation substructures are represented by pairs of dislocation density potential functions (DDPFs), denoted by $\phi$ and $\psi$.

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.
