Selective vulnerability to kainate-induced oxidative damage in different rat brain regions [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Applied Toxicology 21(5): 403-407 (2001), 2007
Some markers of oxidative injury were measured in different rat brain areas (hippocampus, cerebral cortex, striatum, hypothalamus, amygdala/piriform cortex and cerebellum) after the systemic administration of an excitotoxic dose of kainic acid (KA, 9 mg kg(-1) i.p.) at two different sampling times (24 and 48 h).

Shrimp Virus Regulates ROS Dynamics via the Nrf2 Pathway to Facilitate Viral Replication

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Viruses manipulate host ROS as a strategy to achieve successful infection. WSSV exploits Nrf2 pathway to maintain ROS homeostasis and establishes a positive feedback loop to facilitate WSSV replication. Wsv220 competitively binds to Keap1 to activate Nrf2. Nrf2 up‐regulates LvG6PDH to produce more NADPH and GSH to eliminate excessive ROS.

5,6,7,8-tetrahydroneopterin (NH4) Acts like an Endogenous Superoxide Dismutase

open access: yesPteridines, 1996
The protective effect of 5,6,7,8-tetrahydroneopterin (NH.) against radiation injury in mice was studied. (C57BL/6x A/J)F1 mice received whole body irradiation with a single fatal dose of 8.0 Gy X-ray.

APPLICATION OF PERFTORAN AND RECOMBINANT SUPEROXIDE DISMUTASE IN COMPLEX TREATMENT OF ENTERAL INSUFFICIENCY IN PATIENTS WITH ACUTE INTESTINAL OBSTRUCTION

open access: yesКреативная хирургия и онкология, 2017
The effectiveness of perftoran and recombinant superoxide dismutase in complex post-operative therapy in patients with acute intestinal obstruction was investigated. All patients (two groups) were combined.

Developing Quorum Sensing‐Based Collaborative Dynamic Control System in Halomonas TD01

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A standardized and streamlined inducer‐free quorum sensing (QS)‐based collaborative dynamic control pattern is developed for sufficient gene expression control in Halomonas TD by mixing two engineered cells, cells A and B. Proof‐of‐concept studies are designed to test the dynamic control performance in mixed cultures in fed‐batch conditions.

Posttranscriptional Induction of Two Cu/Zn Superoxide Dismutase Genes in Arabidopsis Is Mediated by Downregulation of miR398 and Important for Oxidative Stress Tolerance[W]

open access: yesThe Plant Cell Online, 2006
MicroRNAs (miRNAs) are a class of regulatory RNAs of ∼21 nucleotides that posttranscriptionally regulate gene expression by directing mRNA cleavage or translational inhibition.

FGF2 Mediated USP42‐PPARγ Axis Activation Ameliorates Liver Oxidative Damage and Promotes Regeneration

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
USP42 is identified as a novel DUB of PPARγ in hepatocytes. USP42 mediated PPARγ deubiquitylation determines its transcriptional preference on proliferative and redox balance genes. USP42 knockdown exacerbates liver damage and delays regeneration. FGF2 is the upstream signal that initiates and activates the USP42‐PPARγ axis.

Copper/Zinc-Superoxide Dismutase in Human Epidermis: An Immunochemical Study

open access: yesFrontiers in Medicine, 2019
The localization of copper and zinc-superoxide dismutase in normal and neoplastic human skin was examined with immunochemical techniques. Skin samples were taken from males and females of different ages, UV exposed and non-exposed areas and basal-/spino ...

Advances in Nano‐Immunomodulatory Systems for the Treatment of Acute Kidney Injury

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Based on the biodegradability and the immunological reactiveness, IMNs can be broadly classified into four categories. The first category includes types of biologically derived materials that cause immunomodulatory action and biodegradability like nanoparticles of cell membranes, extracellular vesicles, and exosomes.

Neurodegeneration, myocardial injury, and perinatal death in mitochondrial superoxide dismutase-deficient mice.

open access: yesProceedings of the National Academy of Sciences of the United States of America, 1996
Manganese superoxide dismutase (SOD2) converts superoxide to oxygen plus hydrogen peroxide and serves as the primary defense against mitochondrial superoxide.
