A Review of the Catalytic Mechanism of Human Manganese Superoxide Dismutase
Superoxide dismutases (SODs) are necessary antioxidant enzymes that protect cells from reactive oxygen species (ROS). Decreased levels of SODs or mutations that affect their catalytic activity have serious phenotypic consequences.

TOMM20 increases cancer aggressiveness by maintaining a reduced state with increased NADH and NADPH levels, oxidative phosphorylation (OXPHOS), and apoptosis resistance while reducing reactive oxygen species (ROS) levels. Conversely, CRISPR‐Cas9 knockdown of TOMM20 alters these cancer‐aggressive traits.

Copper/Zinc Superoxide Dismutase in Human Skin: Current Knowledge
Superoxide dismutase is widespread in the human body, including skin and its appendages. Here, we focus on human skin copper/zinc superoxide dismutase, the enzyme that protects skin and its appendages against reactive oxygen species.

Superoxide Dismutases and Superoxide Reductases
Superoxide, O2•–, is formed in all living organisms that come in contact with air, and, depending upon its biological context, it may act as a signaling agent, a toxic species, or a harmless intermediate that decomposes spontaneously. Its levels are limited in vivo by two different types of enzymes, superoxide reductase (SOR) and superoxide dismutase ...

Toward Design Principles for Biomolecular Condensates for Metabolic Pathways
Biomolecular condensates are membrane‐less compartments found through‐out nature which can serve as reaction crucibles for biochemical processes. This review explores the design strategies underlying how condensates can be used in biotechnology to enhance multistep enzyme cascades including enhancement by mass action and substrate channeling, and ...

Activity of lactate dehydrogenase and superoxide dismutase in the circulation of patients with breast carcinoma [PDF]
Background: A rapid increase in the turnover of malignant cells modulates the enzymes level in circulation and may be a prognostic sign of disease progression.
