Qualitative change of character of dispersive interaction with intermolecular distance

The Journal of Chemical Physics, 2013
The dispersive interaction between molecules results from Coulomb-correlated fluctuations of electrons and for large intermolecular distances it can be related to the molecular polarizabilities as in London's theory (F. London, Trans. Faraday Soc. 33, 8–26 (1937)10.1039/tf937330008b).

Diffraction character of holographic polymer-dispersed liquid crystal

SPIE Proceedings, 2002
Holographic polymer dispersed liquid crystal (HPDLC) is a kind of novel photoelectronic information materials. The diffraction efficiency (DE) can be modulated by the application of electric field. HPDLC devices are potentially useful for optical communication, panel dipslay, information storage and integrated optics.

Band dispersion and bonding character of potassium on graphite

Surface Science, 2008
Abstract The band dispersion of potassium on highly oriented pyrolytic graphite (HOPG) has been studied by angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy (ARPES). The ARPES around the K point shows shifts of the π and π ∗ bands toward higher binding energies upon K adsorption in the submonolayer regime, showing charge transfer from the adsorbed potassium

Ranking Characters by a Dispersion Criterion

Nature, 1973
IT is often proposed by taxonomists and ecologists that classifications and other related analyses should be based on the possible largest number of characters. They believe that when large character sets are used the analysis will gain in accuracy, and the results will be more broadly applicable. Yet sampling, computational and other logistic problems

Transmission characters numerical simulation of soliton based on dispersion-managed

SPIE Proceedings, 2010
Exact soliton solution of the nonlinear Schrodinger equation is achieved in the Dispersion-managed soliton system based on a numerical averaging scheme, so the simulation results show that it can traverse great long distances stably. By the Split-step Fourier Method, we simulate soliton evolution in the Dispersion-managed soliton system.

Axisymmetric longitudinal wave dispersion in a bi-layered circular cylinder with inhomogeneous initial stresses

Journal of Sound and Vibration, 2019
The paper studies the axisymmetric longitudinal wave propagation in a bi-layered hollow cylinder with inhomogeneous initial stresses by utilizing the 3D linearized theory of elastic waves in initially stressed bodies.

Dispersive character of optical phonons in GaAlAs alloys from Raman scattering in superlattices

Physical Review Letters, 1989

Influence of disperse phase concentration on character of Brownian motion of particles

Journal of Colloid and Interface Science, 1990
Abstract Brownian motion in concentrated suspensions of solid spherical particles was modeled by a computer experiment. The mean collision number and the self-diffusion coefficient of particles were obtained. The collision number per time unit was calculated to be immeasurable because of the fractal character of the Brownian trajectories.

On a causal dispersion model for the optical properties of metals.

Applied Optics, 2018
A causal model that is fully compliant with the Kramers-Kronig relations (KKRs) is used for characterizing the optical response of metals exhibiting sharp, non-Lorentzian regions of interband absorption.

Evolution of fruit characters and dispersal modes in the tropical family Rubiaceae

Biological Journal of the Linnean Society, 1992
We investigated the evolution of fruit characters, animals versus abiotic dispersal modes, life forms and geographical distribution, in the large, mostly tropical, family Rubiaceae. As a basis for our analysis we used a phylogenetic tree derived from chloroplast DNA variation.
