On Dispersion Property of Mild Slope Equation

Coastal Engineering Journal, 1999
A performance index is defined for linear wave dispersion property. The index measures the capability of a water wave model to simulate irregular wave transformation over general topography. Optimization of this index leads to: (1) the optimum vertical distribution functions for the nonlinear mild slope equations given by Isobe (1994) for different ...

Long-haul soliton WDM transmission with periodic dispersion compensation and dispersion slope compensation

Journal of Lightwave Technology, 1998
A 20 Gb/s-based soliton wavelength division multiplexed (WDM) transmission experiments using periodic dispersion compensation and dispersion slope compensation were demonstrated. Accumulated dispersion slope was compensated with two methods. The first method was periodical individual dispersion compensation.

Design and manufacture of dispersion compensating fibre for simultaneous compensation of dispersion and dispersion slope

OFC/IOOC . Technical Digest. Optical Fiber Communication Conference, 1999, and the International Conference on Integrated Optics and Optical Fiber Communication, 2003
The negative dispersion slope of dispersion-compensating fibers has been optimized by increasing the width of the depressed cladding. Simultaneous compensation and dispersion slope has been demonstrated on an actual link.

Tunable Dispersion and Dispersion Slope Compensator Using Strain-Chirped Fiber Bragg Grating

IEEE Photonics Technology Letters, 2007
We propose a tunable dispersion and dispersion slope compensator based on induced strain-chirp in a uniform fiber Bragg grating. A specially designed mechanical rotator concatenated with a metal beam with linear thickness variation along its height was used to induce a quadratic strain gradient along the grating.

Modeling of microstructured nonzero dispersion shifted optical fiber with ultralow dispersion slope

Journal of the Optical Society of America B, 2009
We report a model of microstructured nonzero dispersion shifted fiber (NZ-DSF) suitable for use in a future wavelength division multiplexing (WDM) system with more enhanced performance characteristics than conventional NZ-DSFs. A microstructured fiber has been chosen because of the flexibility in tailoring its dispersion properties, which helps to ...

New medium-dispersion fiber with large effective area and low dispersion slope

Optical Fiber Communication Conference and Exhibit, 2002
We designed and fabricated MDF with a dualring index profile. The fiber realized a large effective area of approximately 100 /spl mu/m/sup 2/, small dispersion slope of 0.065 ps/nm/sup 2//km, low attenuation of 0.212 dB/km. The splice loss between the fiber and a SM fiber was 0.12 dB.

Ultrashort light pulse CDMA with simultaneous fiber dispersion and dispersion slope compensation

2001 IEEE Pacific Rim Conference on Communications, Computers and Signal Processing (IEEE Cat. No.01CH37233), 2002
We evaluate a fiber link for simultaneously compensating fiber dispersion and dispersion slope in ultrashort light pulse code-division multiple access (CDMA) communication systems. The fiber link consists of a standard single-mode fiber (SMF) connected with two different types of dispersion-compensating fibers (DCF).

Dispersion-slope parameter for monomode fiber bandwidth

Optical Fiber Communication, 1984
Current single-mode communications systems generally use lasers with pulsed spectral widths of less than a few nanometers centered near the zero-dispersion wavelength λ0 of the overall fiber link. However, there is some uncertainly concerning the information-carrying capacity of these links.

The Multi-channel Dispersion and Dispersion Slope Compensation by the SNLCFBG

2009 International Conference on Networking and Digital Society, 2009
In the paper, we investigate the reflect spectrum and time delay of SNLCFBG by means of the numerical simulation which be used to compensated dispersion and dispersion slope. The counting method of multi-channel numbers about SNLCFBG is proposed using the sampled rate of the NLCFBG.

Transmissive in-fiber Fabry-Perot etalons as tunable dispersion compensators and dispersion-slope compensators

Optics Letters, 2003
We report for what is believed to be the first time the use of transmissive fiber Bragg grating-based Fabry-Perot etalons for tunable dispersion compensation and dispersion-slope compensation. The resulting device has a number of advantages, such as low cost, ease of fabrication, full optical fiber compatibility, and simplicity.
