Dispersion management in highly nonlinear, carbon disulfide filled holey fibres

open access: yes
We investigate dispersion control in holey fibres incorporating a highly nonlinear liquid. A liquid-core microstructured fibre with extremely high nonlinearity and flat dispersion at telecoms wavelengths is ...

EDNRB‐dependent endothelin signaling reduces proliferation and promotes proneural‐to‐mesenchymal transition in gliomas

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Glioma cells mainly express the endothelin receptor EDNRB, while EDNRA is restricted to a perivascular tumor subpopulation. Endothelin signaling reduces glioma cell proliferation while promoting migration and a proneural‐to‐mesenchymal transition associated with poor prognosis. This pathway activates Ca2+, K+, ERK, and STAT3 signalings and is regulated

Weighing the QT Intervals with the Slope or the Amplitude of the T Wave

open access: yesAnnals of Noninvasive Electrocardiology, 2001
Objective: The reproducibility of QT interval measurements is low, even for the mean QT interval based on the standard ECG. In this study we analyzed whether the reproducibility of the mean weighed QT interval was better than the simple mean QT interval.

A Tunable Dispersion Waveguide Based on Graphene–Silicon Lateral Slot Geometric Structure

open access: yesIEEE Photonics Journal, 2017
The dispersion profiles of a hybrid graphene–silicon (HyGS) slot waveguide with trilayers of graphene are investigated in this paper. By tuning the bias voltage on graphene layer, the zero dispersion wavelengths (ZDW) of HyGS slot waveguide can be

The influence of dispersion slope to the higher-order dispersion coefficients for highly-nonlinear fibers [PDF]

open access: yesAIP Conference Proceedings, 2017
The highly-nonlinear fiber is the ideal gain medium for many applications particularly because its dispersion can be easily engineered. However, the modification of the fiber dispersion will affect the higher-order dispersion coefficients.

Dual PI3K/AKT and CDK4/6 inhibition reveals selective sensitivity in an SHH medulloblastoma stem cell model

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Targeted therapy was evaluated in SHH medulloblastoma using neuroepithelial stem cell (NES) and tumor‐derived NES‐like (tNES) models in 2D monolayers and 3D spheroids. PI3K, AKT, and CDK4/6 inhibitors had minimal effects in NES but markedly reduced viability and growth and induced apoptosis in tNES cells, revealing distinct therapeutic vulnerabilities.

Improvement of Optical Properties in Hexagonal Index-guiding Photonic Crystal Fiber for Optical Communications [PDF]

open access: yesMathematics Interdisciplinary Research, 2017
Waveguides with low confinement loss, low chromatic dispersion, and low nonlinear effects are used in optical communication systems. Optical fibers can also be employed in such systems.

A spectral slope-based approach for mitigating bistatic STAP clutter dispersion

open access: yes, 2007
In this paper we consider the effects of bistatic clutter spectral dispersion on STAP techniques. A new spectral slope-based approach is presented for mitigating the bistatic geometry-induced performance loss by pre-processing the secondary data used for

Establishment of a humanized patient‐derived xenograft mouse model of high‐grade serous ovarian cancer for preclinical evaluation of combination immunotherapy

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We have established a humanized orthotopic patient‐derived xenograft (Hu‐oPDX) mouse model of high‐grade serous ovarian cancer (HGSOC) that recapitulates human tumor–immune interactions. Using combined anti‐PD‐L1/anti‐CD73 immunotherapy, we demonstrate the model's improved biological relevance and enhanced translational value for preclinical ...

Circulating tumor cell viability during and after radiotherapy mirrors treatment response in cancer patients

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Radiotherapy (RT) response depends on the DNA repair capacity of tumor and host cells. We show that circulating tumor cell (CTC) counts and apoptosis rates before and after RT predict treatment response and outcome, which can be accessed via easily accessible liquid biopsy approaches. Created in BioRender. Wikman, H.
