Zel'dovich approximation and General Relativity
We show how the Zel'dovich approximation and the second order displacement field of Lagrangian perturbation theory can be obtained from a general relativistic gradient expansion in \Lambda{}CDM cosmology.

Identification of plastic constitutive parameters at large deformations from three dimensional displacement fields [PDF]
The aim of this paper is to provide a general procedure to extract the constitutive parameters of a plasticity model starting from displacement measurements and using the Virtual Fields Method.

Phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinase as a target of pathogens—friend or foe?
This graphical summary illustrates the roles of phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinases (PI4Ks). PI4Ks regulate key cellular processes and can be hijacked by pathogens, such as viruses, bacteria and parasites, to support their intracellular replication. Their dual role as essential host enzymes and pathogen cofactors makes them promising drug targets.

Desiccation cracking bebavior of soils based on digital image correlation technique
Under dry condition, the soil is prone to evaporation, leading to desiccation cracking. It is of great significance to deeply study the desiccation cracking process of soils to accurately grasp the engineering response characteristics of soils in arid ...

Switching a spin-valve back and forth by current-induced domain wall motion
We have studied the current-induced displacement of a domain wall (DW) in the permalloy (Py) layer of a Co/Cu/Py spin valve structure at zero and very small applied field.

The newfound relationship between extrachromosomal DNAs and excised signal circles
Extrachromosomal DNAs (ecDNAs) contribute to the progression of many human cancers. In addition, circular DNA by‐products of V(D)J recombination, excised signal circles (ESCs), have roles in cancer progression but have largely been overlooked. In this Review, we explore the roles of ecDNAs and ESCs in cancer development, and highlight why these ...

The shapes of mechanical parts become more and more complex, and the introduction of computers helps to cope with the complexity and reduces the development time for new products. Two important technologies of production are milling and grinding. Both processes have in common that a tool (milling cutter, grinding disc/belt) is moved along the surface ...

The Ile181Asn variant of human UDP‐xylose synthase (hUXS1), associated with a short‐stature genetic syndrome, has previously been reported as inactive. Our findings demonstrate that Ile181Asn‐hUXS1 retains catalytic activity similar to the wild‐type but exhibits reduced stability, a looser oligomeric state, and an increased tendency to precipitate ...
