Deciphering transcriptional plasticity in pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma reveals alterations in sensory neuron innervation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Pancreatic sensory neurons innervating healthy and PDAC tissue were retrogradely labeled and profiled by single‐cell RNA sequencing. Tumor‐associated innervation showed a dominant neurofilament‐positive subtype, altered mitochondrial gene signatures, and reduced non‐peptidergic neurons.

CD47 promotes mitogen‐activated protein kinase and epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition molecular programs to drive prometastatic phenotypes in non‐small cell lung cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Beyond its role in immune evasion, this study identified that CD47 drives tumor‐intrinsic signaling in non‐small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Transcriptomic profiling and functional studies revealed that CD47 regulates cell adhesion, migration, and metastasis through an ERK–EMT signaling axis.

Determination of Baseline Value of Radionuclides in Iranian Near-Surface Disposal Facility [PDF]

open access: yesIranian Journal of Chemistry & Chemical Engineering
According to the radioactivity criteria, about 97% of radioactive waste is categorized as Low and Intermediate Level Waste (LLW or ILW). Such waste has been disposed of in near-surface repositories for many years all over the world. Surveillance programs,

Design Options for the UK’s ILW Geological Disposal Facility

open access: yes, 2009
Over the last few years, a major national programme of public consultation has been under way in the UK resulting, in 2006, in the announcement by government of geological disposal as the most appropriate solution for the long-term management of the UK’s

Interaction of HS1BP3 with cortactin modulates TKS5 localisation, cell secretion and cancer malignancy

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Here, we demonstrate that HS1BP3 interacts with Cortactin through a proline‐rich region (PRR3.1) and show that this interaction, and HS1BP3 itself, promote cancer cell proliferation and invasion. Inhibition of this interaction leads to build‐up of TKS5 in multivesicular endosomes and altered secretion of CD63 and CD9, providing an explanation for the ...

Revealing the hidden burden: A life cycle assessment (LCA) of water treatment sludge disposal

open access: yesWater Research X
This study presents a detailed life cycle assessment of four widely used water treatment sludge disposal strategies – lagooning, direct discharge, landfilling, and land application. Previously, sludge disposal was considered to have a very limited impact
