Anti‐Slip Material‐Based Strategies and Approaches

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
This review highlights the principle mechanisms of slipping at the microscale, linking contact mechanics with a friction behavior model for surface interfaces. Main strategies to develop anti‐slip properties to the surfaces are discussed alongside standardized testing approaches.

Could the Coand\u{a} effect be called the Young effect? The understanding of fluid dynamics of a legendary polymath

open access: yes, 2011
A paper of Thomas Young (1773-1829) on the behavior of streams of air makes a good starting point for discussing the not always fair, sometimes serendipitous, association of a physical phenomenon with its discoverer.

Attachment priming and avoidant personality features as predictors of social-evaluation biases [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
Personality research has shown that negativity in social situations (e.g., negative evaluations of others) can be reduced by the activation of participants' sense of attachment security.

Gait Analysis of Pak Biawak: A Necrobot Lizard Built using the Skeleton of an Asian Water Monitor (Varanus Salvator)

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
Pak Biawak, a necrobot, embodies an unusual fusion of biology and robotics. Designed to repurpose natural structures after death, it challenges conventional boundaries between nature and engineering. Its movements are precise yet unsettling, raising questions about sustainability, ethics, and the untapped potential of biointegrated machines.

Hepatocyte PIEZO1 Negatively Regulates Lipogenesis and Ameliorates MASLD by Sensing Membrane Tension and Activating AMPK

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Hepatocytes are subjected to increased membrane tension along with lipid accumulation. Loss of PIEZO1 exacerbates high‐fat diet‐induced MASLD in mice. Activation of PIEZO1 alleviates high‐fat diet‐induced MASLD in mice. PIEZO1 negatively regulates de novo lipogenesis through activation of CaMKK2‐AMPK pathway. ABSTRACT Liver is a central organ for lipid

Machine Learning for Green Solvents: Assessment, Selection and Substitution

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Environmental regulations have intensified demand for green solvents, but discovery is limited by Solvent Selection Guides (SSGs) that quantify solvent sustainability. Training a machine learning model on GlaxoSmithKline SSG, a database of sustainability metrics for 10,189 solvents, GreenSolventDB is developed. Integrated with Hansen solubility metrics,
