Effect of Circumferential Stress on Energy Evolution Mechanism of Rockburst under True Triaxial Unilateral Unloading Conditions

open access: yesGaoya wuli xuebao
In order to study the influence of hoop stress on the energy evolution in the process of rockburst catastrophe, a new true triaxial rockburst test system was used to carry out the rockburst simulation test of single-side rapid unloading, three-five-side ...

Organ‐specific redox imbalances in spinal muscular atrophy mice are partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotides

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We identified a systemic, progressive loss of protein S‐glutathionylation—detected by nonreducing western blotting—alongside dysregulation of glutathione‐cycle enzymes in both neuronal and peripheral tissues of Taiwanese SMA mice. These alterations were partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotide therapy, revealing persistent redox imbalance as ...

Topological sensitivity analysis of a time-dependent nonlinear problem

open access: yesBoundary Value Problems, 2019
We are interested in the optimization of the pipe shape allowing minimization of the dissipated energy in time-dependent Navier–Stokes Darcy flow. The used technique is based on the topological gradient method.

An optimized tuned mass damper/harvester device [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Much work has been conducted on vibration absorbers, such as tuned mass dampers (TMD), where significant energy is extracted from a structure. Traditionally, this energy is dissipated through the devices as heat.

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

Fatigue Limit Estimation Based on Dissipated Energy of Butt Laser-Welded Joints

open access: yesEngineering Proceedings
This study established a rapid estimation method for the fatigue limit of laser welds of aluminum alloys in order to optimize welding conditions, an important factor in ensuring the safety and reliability of laser welding.

Investigation of Energy Mechanism and Acoustic Emission Characteristics of Mudstone with Different Moisture Contents

open access: yesShock and Vibration, 2018
Characteristics of energy accumulation, evolution, and dissipation in conventional triaxial compression of mudstones with different moisture contents were explored. Stress-strain relations and acoustic emission (AE) characteristics of the deformation and

The planar cell polarity protein Vangl2 interacts with the PDZ‐domains of Scribble but not with a unique PDZ‐like domain in Inturned

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Structural and biochemical characterisations show that the planar cell polarity (PCP) protein Inturned harbours a unique PDZ‐like domain that does not bind canonical PDZ‐binding motifs (PBMs) like that of another PCP protein Vangl2. In contrast, the apical‐basal polarity protein Scribble contains four PDZ domains that bind Vangl2, but one PDZ domain ...

Triaxial experimental study on mechanical behavior, acoustic emission characteristics, and energy evolution of coral sand grouting consolidated body under different confining pressures

open access: yesCase Studies in Construction Materials
This study conducted triaxial compression tests on coral sand grouting consolidated body, incorporating Acoustic Emission (AE) testing to analyze the mechanical properties, AE characteristics, and energy evolution under different strain rates.

Fractoluminescence characterization of the energy dissipated during fast fracture of glass

open access: yes, 2012
Fractoluminescence experiments are performed on two kinds of silicate glasses. All the light spectra collected during dynamic fracture reveal a black body radiator behaviour, which is interpreted as a crack velocity-dependent temperature rise close to ...
