Topological sensitivity analysis of a time-dependent nonlinear problem
We are interested in the optimization of the pipe shape allowing minimization of the dissipated energy in time-dependent Navier–Stokes Darcy flow. The used technique is based on the topological gradient method.

Resonant Enhancement of Turbulent Energy Dissipation [PDF]
We periodically modulate a turbulent wind-tunnel flow with an active grid. We find a resonant enhancement of the mean turbulent dissipation rate at a modulation frequency which equals the large-eddy turnover rate. Thus, we find the best frequency to inject energy into a turbulent flow. The resonant response is characterized by the emergence of vortical

Degradation mechanism of the von Willebrand factor A2 domain by nattokinase
Nattokinase, a natto‐derived protease, exhibits potent antithrombotic effects. This study demonstrates that nattokinase directly cleaves the von Willebrand factor (vWF) A2 domain in vitro. Unlike the native regulator ADAMTS13, nattokinase degrades folded vWF independently of shear stress.

Measured Dissipated-Energy in Switching-off by Electric Contacts
The measurement of the dissipated energy in switching-off has been attempted to make clear the function of spark on electric contacts, which may unfortunately cause the combustible gas, such as propane gas etc, to catch fire and result in fire accidents.

The ubiquitin‐proteasome system and autophagy as guardians of the cellular proteome
This Perspective covers the three principles governing the crosstalk between the ubiquitin‐proteasome system and autophagy in cellular proteostasis: (1) a shared ubiquitin code routing substrates via shuttle factors or autophagy receptors; (2) spatial compartmentalization into phase‐separated degradation hubs and organelle‐specific modules (exemplified

Analysis of energy dissipation characteristics in granite under high confining pressure cyclic load
With cyclic high in-situ stress, the rock will damage and lead to serious engineering geological disasters. A property of rock failure is the rock damage evolution driven by energy.

We present robust protocols for the preparation of supported lipid bilayers (SLBs) incorporating either Salmonella smooth LPS or outer membrane vesicles (OMVs). We use a combination of quartz crystal microbalance with dissipation (QCM‐D) and fluorescence microscopy to both characterize the SLBs of various compositions and to probe their interactions ...
